Its very interesting how (according to this video) before the NY RNC, CM was pretty much like the Midnight Ridazz, very playful and fun, with cops on bikes or scooters actually corking for the ride. Starting with the RNC the cops got orders to crack down and they did so quite brutally. CM went from over 4,000 riders to a really hardcore contingent that are basically akin to the civil rights marchers.
Its interesteing how the cops/ local politics seemed OK with CM when it was a canraval on wheels ... but once it was taken to the RNC thy considerd the bicycle it self to be a tool of protest and started cracking down with brutality.

Dissent stopped in 1776. How dare anyone stand up againist Bush and the Republicans occupying their town for a coronation party.
Especially after being so good to the country, for the last years while they occupied the federal government
See, they didn't learn from us Angelenos what happen with 2000DNC, when the cops arrested bicyclist during the LA CM.
Now if that ain't enough for you. Look what they did to those American Indanians and those Black Panthers, for trying to make their living conditions better. They got effective and had to be neutralized and when that didn't work, eliminated.
How dare you stand up and be heard.
Didn't we do this already. I just wanted to thank Trickmilla for pointing out the obvious. It was so obvious to me, I didn't even think to put it together with the discussion we where having befoire.
As I remembered it, the police asked that the critical mass not happen, when the Republicans where in town, and when it did, the reprecussions happened. If you don't know the story, watch the film.
Heresay say, the secret service give orders to local police when to come down on protester. That Heresay talking. Remeber the police coming down on everybody during the 2000dnc, happened just as Bill Clinton took the stage accross the street.
