It has arrived at my mailbox! "The iH85 cycler speaker"....holy jeebus this thing is heavy but I think it will be worth it. My commute to work is about to get silly.....

I thinking about blasting this in traffic:

-William Tell Overture (the finale)
-The Ride of the Valkyries (you know, act 3...gotta do act 3)
-Overture to Barber of Seville (BREAKING AWAY--YA!)

Then just to throw everybody off, something really nutty:
-Danny Elfman's Breakfast Machine

Yes!

What else should I put on? If I'm going to be lugging an extra 3 pounds I have to put really silly stuff on there from time to time.

Oh ya, anybody going on the ride I am organizing? It's on July 9th--consult the ride calendar. Thanks.

due give us a review of how you like it.is it worth the price/ the extra weight? Is the audio clear, are you are able to hear it over loud traffic?

down load a copy ofDemocracy Now and test if you can understand what is being said. I would appreciate the reviews

I have been considering purchasing one of those for when I start to ride again.

Has anybody purchased any other iHome products or anything similar. I was considering KENSINGTON FX300 to listen to at home without the headphones, has anybody bought one like this that you can carry around in your hand similar to transistor size radio?

This is what I like about it:
- Fits in the water bottle cage.
- No wires.
- Easy to take from one bike to the other.
- Sound volume adequate for solo or very small group rides.

This is what I don't like about it:
- The remote needs to be strapped to the handlebars which defies the portability of the speaker. You can also put it in your pocket but that's how I lost mine. They should redesign it to attach to a wristband.
- The remote has only pause/play, volume, next/previous song. No way to choose a song or a playlist.
- When you have it turned off it still burns its AA batteries trying to charge your iPod. That's the MOST retarded feature as the batteries only last 4 hours while the iPod lasts 3-5 times as long.
- Mono Speaker
- Inadequate volume for a group larger than 3 people.
- Batteries don't seem to last more than an hour unless you remember to remove the iPod from inside the tube.

For the same money I'd recommend the Boomtube. I see it on Amazon for $59. Used to be $159.

PROS
- It's much louder
- Lithium battery lasts longer
- The sound quality is better
- You can see your iPod or any MP3 player in front of you.
- It also fits the water bottle cage.

CONS
- You need to find a place to attach the speakers. I strapped them with bike tubes under the bike seat.
- You need to run cables from the speakers to the unit and from the unit to the iPod/mp3 player

Oh ya by the way the fact that I can only scroll through songs and not any playlists is pretty silly. I do have to be mindful about taking out my ipod or else I will drain my batteries. Otherwise, it weighs about as much as a full water bottle would weigh but the sound quality is great. I will take it out on a longer ride on Monday but thus it's pretty good for the 40 bucks I spent (go ebay!)
