Bike Boxes... How can we get themz?

I want to know how we can get Bike Boxes here in LA just like in Portland. What can we do to get these little babies here so we can freely ride our bikes on the street without being pushed off the street by cars????

FUCK THAT.
i lived in pdx and i think its a bogus idea. pay attention when you bike. to many bikers in portland got run over because they were dumbasses.

They wouldnt work here either. Think about it LA drivers would just ignore them anyways. They allready stop in crosswalks half the time. It would just make drivers more aggro.

signage painted on the streets would help.... sharrows bike boxes, bike lanes, bike icons share the road, anything to get bicycles into the consciousness of drivers. the more sign-age the better.

I agree.. There aren't enough bike lanes or signs or anything anywhere. It would help a lot.

Communicate a little piece of the pie to drivers so that they actually start thinking about it without even realizing it.
Signage is a perfect way to get that little bit of info to stick in their brainz, hopefully without making them too aggro!

I still like my idea of speed-control for cars via automated, speed-bumps.
Cars get too close to bike lane, speed bump pops up in the road and gets driver to straighten up and fly right.
Car goes too fast and it goes flying after activating said bump.
Yes, the lanes would be cool, but drivers themselves need to have the fear of God put back into them.
Hell, there could be a 20 car, police pursuit and they won't even notice until it's too late.
