a really big thank you to everyone who came out! (WAY WAY WAAY more than anticipated). The whole shoot was concepted and executed in less than 24 hours in an illegal location with no power. i wasnt prepared for the massive turnout, and not everyone made it in the picture, BUT that being said, nobody made it into the picture in the end, because it was an epic
FAIL.
WHY? ...
...because whoever was taking pictures when the mentos got dropped FUCKED UP everything by discharging my flashes before my shutter was released, (after we explained to everyone NOT to take photos) so all the planning and construction (not to mention time and money) i spent on this project was pretty much ruined because that asshole with their point-and-shoot somewhere in the background just HAD to take that shitty photo of all the shit going down. and to you (whoever you are) i hope you got that shot you were looking for, because i didnt.
I apologize to everyone who patiently waited in the street, held my lighting equipment, threw confetti, got soaked with diet cola, cut masks and labels out, ran errands for me, wore my ridiculous masks, helped construct the set, and just showed up in general.
I wish there was power at the location, i would have used higher-end equipment, thus rendering the fail factor to an impossibly low minimum...but.... ugh.

overall it was a learning experience, and at least this wasnt some magazine shoot or something.
i promise it will be better next time.

this is the shot that WOULD HAVE BEEN amazing if the lights had went off.
unedited, it looks almost completely black, save for the tunnel lights in the back, so i brought up the levels just so you could see, thus destroying the pixels, so i had to make it B+W...
but yeah. oh well!

i would love to be a part of a future shoot and wouldn't have a problem contributing somehow but it would need to be earlier or on a weekend since i have work m-f 9-6
you had an awesome idea and i'm sure it would have been awesome with the proper lighting. such a bummer but we should def try to do it again.

Get your plans together Sarah. You got backup! Another thing we could do is run a car for power. You hookup an inverter to the 12 volt via the cigarette lighter.
(you may want to test this before you actually need it. Could be too much power, then again, could work.)

Hey Candy Cane!
Lighting is what I do for FUN, just so happens movies, TV & concerts been payin me for it for over 20 years also!! I think you should call me so we can set it up right! If we guerrilla shoot a location I suggest batteries & inverters, so there isn't a 'car' around, in the way, or a causing a problem when stealing the shots. There are some incredible battery powered LED lights available.

I had fun, but considering how many margaritas I had last night I could have had fun in the back of a cop car.
It was a good concept, I think you just could have used a few good assistants, not your fault don't worry about it.
