- you try to demean somebody by making fun their gender, masculinity, or sexual orientation.
- make baseless or unfounded accusations/ assumptions that somebody from this community, stole from you, fucked with your bike or took your girlfriend, boyfriend, FWB, pet, iPod, cellphone, or vaporizer.
- you make long self-righteous lists about what everybody else is doing wrong. (oops thats me) srry guise.

And I realize that many people use this forum as a way to alleviate their boredom. But it is too bad that they can't come up with a more creative and positive way to do so than simply being a dick.

The forums have been slow lately. Maybe it's cause %99 percent of the posts are silly or some sort of inside joke that's not terribly interesting if you're not directly involved... or maybe its just the holidays and the serious people are busy with other things.
A lot of the people who show up to rides don't post on the site but they do read the calendar and some read the forums religiously without ever posting. I wonder what the spectators think about all of this....

Sucks but Midnight Ridazz got killed for me a while back..
It used to be more of a inclusive movement and not a scene or fad, I loved getting to start points and seeing such a mix of people..by that I mean riders and non riders.,,there is no denying that MR is currently a melting pot but not as welcoming as it used to be,Where is Overthehill and his kid and wife? Where are all the peeps that once a month dropped thier life routine, walls, and simply rode like nothing matters. What happened to no rider left behind? What happened to "thank you blocker"?
Now iit feels like you really have to be in the scene or scene kid and dont get me started on half the bullshit on the forums..it sucks..i miss it.

As far as the likes of our man, OTH and his family, I'm going to take a large risk on my ass and say that these new generations of fixed-gear kids are turning up the speed and scaring most away.
You go out to these big rides with some of your friends, or significant others who probably aren't as tuned to riding as yourself.
The start-point seems cool enough, but you see the numerous little circle-jerks with these hard-looking, brats giving the general crowd some hard-stares.
As soon as the ride gets fired up, it starts off slowly, but then the speed gradually expands to the point where your own crew is breaking a pretty good sweat.
Up ahead, you notice the fixed-gear kids skidding and hauling ass to their hearts content.
After that, the rest turns into a typical, rant and rave about a hijacking on this board.
Ride-wise, we'll have to keep brain-storming ways to keep the ride-speeds down to where hijackings and losing ridazz becomes less prevalent.
I'll get heat for this, but I'm afraid we may have to start making announcements at rides that are specifically geared to the kids on their newfound, fixed-toys.
bentstrider01.6.09 - 2:37 am
reply
You are killing Midnight Ridazz if you make mawkish, overheated posts to the forum about how "scene kids" or fixed gear riders are ruining the Arcadian utopia where we once sipped organic Fair Trade nectar and frolicked in fields of eternal springtime. On our bikes. Or something.
OK, you're not actually killing Midnight Ridazz, but you're fucking killing me. LOL. HI HI. Ha ha.

OK OK OK, I'm being a dick. But was it really that much different in the olden days? I've been doing this shit for about three years now and I remember seeing hipsters and hooch and hijackings and hippopotami and all the rest of it. But I also remember having a good time.
So please tell me, old timers, about this prelapsarian paradise that I apparently missed out on by a few months. It must really have been something! No "scene kids" at all? Routes always studied beforehand and strictly adhered to? Entire group came to a solemn halt every time somebody on a 300 year old beach cruiser got a flat? Fuck, no wonder you guys are sore. Did a snake show up at one of the rides in late 2005 and offer somebody an apple or something?
PC01.6.09 - 3:17 am

Quit referring to yourself PC.
For I do not frolic in the fields of anything, nor drink that strange, nectar-juice you previously mentioned.
I'm beginning to think I need a long, awaited exile to someplace.
Unfortunately, Swift's on a hiring-freeze 'til February, and the current person I'm driving for has not even updated his tags to '09 yet!!!
If anything, it'll probably be back to watching some houses to make sure kids don't break into them.
Which explains the renewed mean-streak I've taken.

Midnight Ridazz has been changing since I went on my first ride (Sept '05). [As a historical note, in those days there was one ride a month and no web site.] I was a small part of that change: one month I wasn't there, then I was. By way of a strange coincidence, I've noticed that the world itself appears to be in a state of on-going change; in fact I suspect this change has been occurring long before I was even born.
But to address what i think is the original point of this post: I've noticed people like to talk a lot of shit on the internet when they're allowed to. Personally, I like to be a little more positive and stay on-topic, but that's just me.
Seems like we periodically go through phases of trying to fix what we see as being "wrong' with the rides. Again, it's the nature of what this thing is. It's only as good as we're willing to make it be.

I guess as long as there's people out who there who voice their concerns about such issues, then that shows that most people are still, truly down for the cause.
As far as all the clique-shit goes, I consider myself the drifter.
In other words, the shit that goes on here is the equivalent of the drivel you'd hear on a cross-country, trucking run when the CB is turned on.

Mr. Rollers says many wise things.
Rides change. People change. It's fine to remind everybody what was good about the past, but wishing for the old days is just an exercise in frustration. And if the current state of things conflicts with your vision of what Midnight Ridazz should be "all about," then the best way to change it is to lead by example.

Nathan makes a great point. We've all, at one point or another, been negative on this board. Shoot, we used to post all that negativity in a thread, didn't we? I've seen it around. Maybe we should let it all out there and keep the rest of the board with relevant news, tips, and other positive aspects of this wonderful community.
I don't take anything on here seriously but that's not to say that a n00b won't and could even retaliate in person (never seen it happen and I pray I never do) But seriously, our words can and do have consequences so before you decide to voice yourself on the boards make sure that the person you are replying to won't miscontrue your words.
P.S. I love riding with all you guys. On the boards it's one thing. But on the rides... I wouldn't change any of you guys.
