LA's 4th annual
target="_blank">Park[ing] Day is here (Friday, September 17th) and people throughout LA County will step up to the curb, put a quarter in the meter, take possession of a parking space and turn it into a park...all in an effort to stir a conversation of public space, open space, and green space.
From Long Beach to Pacoima, from Highland Park to South Robertson, from Silver Lake to Santa Monica, there will be Shakespeare in the Park[ing], Dog Park[ing], a Zen Park, a Community Garden, a Music Park, a Poem Booth, a Pedestrian Plaza on Hollywood Blvd., a Town Square in Westwood, a Library Park in Long Beach and a BBQ in SoRo.
There are three opportunities to tour the parks by bike during the day. (LB to LA, West LA to Echo Park, Highland Park to DT to Hollywood) Time/location tba.
There are also three opportunities to celebrate Park[ing] Day LA that evening.

It's not too late to organize your own park, it's not too late to join an existing park.

Last year Streetsblog did a ride which was a fun all day 30 mile adventure. I believe this year he is doing his own space.
I am heading out to the westside for barlames ride so I may see the few spaces out there.
