Japan experienced a bit of nirvana after the quake and flood.

After the earthquake, some people were willing to wait in line to buy
a bicycle, one of the few ways to get home because the metros and
trains were not running.

Cause they're not a slave to the auto-industry or big oil............. oh never mind.
