I want to make a zine. It'll have reviews of rides and lots of pictures and who knows what else. The centerfold will have a sexy lady or sexy man on a bike. Haha. It'll be photocopied. It'll be awesome. Good idea, bad idea? Thoughts, opinions, ideas? :)

im sure you will find a ZILLION people willing to contribute something. I know a place where you can photocopy using an honor system. i usually photo copy a couple hundred sheets of shit, and pay for a couple dozen.

I should show you the Velo Culture Magazine that San Diego peeps have made. It's full color Comic book style size and includes stickers and spoke cards and shit... but baby steps..

that's one of the best ideas i've across this board. i'd be willing to help however i could. and at the end of the year you could have like a yearbook type of zine.... that brings together all the rides and fun times. that would be awesome. i took yearbook class in highschool so just let me know what it is you will be needing.

Start with a little zine, photo copied, and work towards something printed at shops, but ALSO make it available online as a website AND downloadable PDF... do not pass go!
There are a ton of graphic designers, writers, and photographers that are willing to submit something.
I think your key concern is finding the right editors to pick through all the good stuff, and publish the BEST stuff...

I was thinking bout doin a zine myself called Pregnant Minds: a Collective of Creative Births (don't abort your brain babies!), but don't have all the resource or time for it. I'd definitely be down to help work out a MR Zine.

theres a lot of talent here offering you their services. i'll jump in and offer my services as well. I'm an artist...graphic design and real media art [paint,sketch,ink etc.] and I do photography as a hobby.

So, before last month's C-Mob I was doing at least two rides a weekend, and I didn't do that until this past weekend. (Hope that made sense)
Anyway, this means that I attending more rides this weekend, which means I have more material for the zine, and now I can start it.
I've realized that I need a lot of help, and if anyone has a cheap hookup (or free) with a photocopier, that's one of the main things I need help with.

You need to include rida interviews.....or a 20 questions interview section. I can xerox in color as well for free. I printed the grateful dead, discordia, and various peoples ride spokecards. a monthly report on the scene from ridazz living in other cities: vspangle, skano, katie in portland, etc...

Mr. Zine is some guy I met on the bus. He was pretty cool.

If no one else is doing it, I'll try to put together some brief "city reports" based on the Ridazz trips to SF and NY, but it'll be at least a week before I could get around to that. What's your deadline? Is it just "whenever people get off their lazy asses and send stuff in?"

Yeah, pretty much. Deadlines are a joke at this point.
The first draft will definitely be shitty, but that's what's beautiful about raw DIY zines. Of course we'll get better over time. :)

Zine:
A underground publication that causes the following side effects in the publishers:
Hair loss, weight gain, hardening of arteries, hearing loss, carpel tunnel, terminal acne, hemorrhoids, anxiety, depression, a general sense of self loathing.
To do a zine is the pinnacle of self-hatred. The peanut gallery is in full effect. One must endure wave after wave of armchair criticism. People hate zines. They take them from you with a smile and then throw them on the floor when they think you’re not looking. No one cares what your ideas and opinions are and you get proof when you drop off the latest issue and the last one is still there in a huge pile.
