Hey Ridazz,
Most of you probably already know that Stephen Box is running for City Council. If you know Stephen, you know that he would be the best thing for Los Angeles since Midnight Ridazz!
Stephen Box has been there for ridazz in the middle of the night or in the middle of the day when they have been harassed by cops.
Stephen Box has been there for ridazz in the middle of the night or in the middle of the day when someone was hit or injured on our streets.
Stephen Box has advocated for cyclists all over the city and the county, going to Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Pasadena until the week hours, to protect cyclists rights. He's been at City Hall at various committee meetings and full board meetings for many years, tirelessly speaking up for cyclists.
Stephen Box has visited Sacramento on his own dime several times to lobby for safer streets for all users and to speak in favor of the AB766 Bill.
Stephen Box formed the Bike Writers Collective and co-wrote the Cyclists' Bill of Rights.
Stephen Box has NEVER backed down and never accepted minimum standards when working with City Council, LAPD, LADOT, METRO, BOSS, Caltrans, LACBC, LABAC,...
Stephen Box is working on the Cyclists/LAPD Task Force on many issues that you guys and girls have addressed here on forums. He has never missed one meeting whereas everybody else got worn out. He went to every single LACM since the LAPD joined the ride. Again, most of the working group people got tired and worn out, but Stephen is still standing, advocating for your rights and for your safety, and for respect!
Stephen Box has traveled all over LA from South to North from East to West on his bike and he knows the roads, he knows the issues and has worked on making streets safer for all users.
Stephen Box served on the board of the LACBC and LABAC and still serves on Caltrans 7 BAC and Cyclists/LAPD Task Force, he is on the board of Bikeside and Sustainable Streets amongst many orgs that he works with. When he served and as he serves, he never misses a meeting!
Stephen Box has been working on for free! He never complained that he had to sleep, or that he had to make a living.
IT'S TIME FOR ALL YOU BOYS AND GIRLS TO GIVE BACK!
He is running against an incumbent who voted in favor of every single speed limit increase in our city. The incumbent hasn't done anything to make our streets nor our neighborhoods safer. The incumbent banned cyclists from the DWP Christmas Parade every year. The incumbent spoke against the Cyclists' Bill of Rights. The incumbent banned cyclists and pedestrians from the new Griffith Observatory, but Stephen Box fought him and won, and cyclists were free to ride up the hill.
Stephen Box is running in the March 8th 2011 elections and you can help him win. But you need to be proactive!
Here is what you can do:
- If you live in Council Distric 4 (view map here) and are a registered voter or would like to register to vote, come to Hollywood Rent a Car on Monday from 6pm - 10pm to sign his petition to actually get him on the ballot. Your signature is very valuable and we need it! We need to collect 500 valid registered voters signatures from District 4 and we are now at 300. 200 more signatures and Stephen gets on the ballot. We'll share some Thanksgiving cheer with you with snacks when you drop in and sign on Monday, November 22nd, from 6-10pm).
- Invite (Suggest to Friends) all your friends to the Stephen Box 4 City Council facebook page. This is also free to do and won't take up much of your time. Easy to do!
- Comment and share his posts on facebook and also his posts on SoapBoxLA.blogspot.com and CityWatchLA. It will show up on your friends feeds and they will learn about him virally because your introducing him to your circles.
- Stephen's website pages have share buttons, so share the pages via twitter and facebook and emails. It's simple to do but your involvement counts.
- Come out and volunteer. Stephen Box is running against the machine, so he needs your help! Lube up your bikes, pump up your tires and help us get the word out about him in the district. There is a volunteer form on the website. Please, fill it out and we'll contact you.
- Host a fundraiser ride to raise money toward the campaign! Contact box4citycouncil@gmail.com if you are interested and we'll send you info on how to do a fundraiser. Everything that is spent towards the campaign will need to be spent from a campaign account! The machine has millions of dollars to spend on advertising, on mailers, and to host parties, etc. and Stephen will need your support so he can be competitive.
- Donate money! Stephen Box needs to raise $50,000 to get matching funds. Personal donations like from Sexy, Alex T, Gary, Jeremy and a few others of the cycling community is as crucial as the fundraiser! Cyclsits and friends who have stepped up and donated did so because they know that talk is cheap but action is what will move us forward. So we need action!
I'm asking you all to step up and do something to change our city around and move it forward toward a prosperous city as it once was. With Stephen Box in Office it will happen! He is the most honorable man you will ever meet and he is one of the smartest man you will ever meet as well! For all the time that he spent on cyclists issues, it's time to give back!
Thanks,
Enci (Box)

Ladies and Gentlemen.
Let me please encourage you to give a financial donation to this campaign. I know time are hard. If you can give just a little, if it is $1 or $5, it would help and it would make you part of the campaign. This is a campaign that will not only benefit you if it is successful, but will help the city get the Safe Streets It Deserve. Everybody will benefits on that one issue alone.
If you are doing a little better $10 or $20 will help. If you can afford $50 or $100, make the leap. This is ultimately for a better Los Angeles.
If your rolling in the dough the maximum campaign contribution is $500. It will be the best five-hundred you ever spent towards a better Los Angeles.
I have had the chance to read Stephen writings and talk to him about the issues that he is going to address when elected. He talking about and has a plan to make this city work better. He is well experience with all the issue that our challenging the city.
I'm convinced that he has the skills and knowledge to make a great city council member.
Please give not only of your money but of your time if you can.
Remember if it is only $1 or $5 or $10 it will help greatly.

Stephen has done so much for this community and the city at large.
There is many thing to mention. I'm sure you all have your stories.
This to me was one of the coolest things I ever seen Stephen Box do.
We were walking along and saw a penny, he saw it first and grabbed it. I thought, he is a fiscally minded person like myself. He didn't pick it up and put it in his pocket, he took it and turned it from tails to head to make it a lucky penny for the next person that walked by to be able to pick up a Lucky Penny. Its the little things that make a person who they are.
