Second Friday Rides of 2010
Thread started by

All right, here's a nice thread to organize in, for those of you challenged in the calendar-checking department.
Note: this is based on what I see on the calendar, as of right now.
January 8, 2010-
Midnight Ridazz Love COPS- tortuga_veloce
February 12, 2010-
Match 12, 2010-
shine on, you crazy Midnight Ridazz!- coldcut
or
The Happy Birfday ride!- Tarmonster.
April 9, 2010-
Cereal Cyclists- TheRaquel
May 14, 2010-
June 11, 2010-
July 9, 2010-
August 13, 2010-
September 10, 2010-
October 8, 2010-
November 12, 2010-
December 10, 2010- The 5th Annual Toy Ride (I assume)
I'll just throw out that there's already a conflict for the March slot, so let's try to resolve before it becomes an issue, yeah?

Argh. The sad thing is, I like triple checked it for unclosed tags and spelling. Dunno how that one slipped by.

No offense, but none of these rides posted look that interesting.
1. Love COPS? How do you imagine a group of 300+ people not going through a few red lights.......... or maybe I'm missing a joke here.
2. shineon, you crazy.... Pink Floyd theme seems too niche. How about "Psychedelic Midnight Ridazz"
3. The Happy Birfday ride! .... meh
4. Cereal Cyclists ... not that original ... or imaginative
Midnight Ridazz : Time Travelerz is an imaginative theme that some neat routes could be based on, and some cool costumes.
Midnight Ridazz : The Hitchhikers Guide Ride is also another awesome theme. Who doesn't have a towel they could bring with them. Also good inspiration for route ideas.
I'm down to help out with either of those rides.
That's my vote!

Probably more of a tongue-in-cheek thing to throw the mind off a bit.
I dunno, stop at some pre-determined lights and then blow through the next, randomized bits of intersection?

+1 on banning the COPS ride on several grounds.
- poodles is too unstable to lead a ride. Does anyone remember his meltdown? I do!
- it's political. MR is not political, it's in the "about the ridazz" tab.
- such a fucking boring and unimaginative theme.
- ever made or missed a ride and thought that that was a good ride, or that I wished I never missed that ride? Yeah, neither have I!
This ride goes off and I'll be looking for something else to do that night. Thanks for summarizing the rides. I got some time to plan.

Oy, don't hate. This is a summary of the rides as they were posted on the calendar a few hours ago. If you want to boot someone from the calendar, take it up with Roadblock, since he's the only person who's advice I'd take on how to determine who "gets" to lead the ride.
I'll post any ride labeled as Midnight Ridazz on the second Friday to this list. The 'Core Elite' committee deciding what/who is acceptable or not, I refuse to deal with.

Poodles are usually eaten by larger breeds of dogs.
German Shepards and Rottweilers will tear it up and eat it piece by piece.
Saint Bernards, Bull Mastiffs, Neopolitan Mastiffs and Dobermans will each swallow them in one bite.
Although vets don't recommend smaller animals as a feed stock for your canine, they do make an excellent learning tool for those interested in utilizing their breeds for tracking and retrieving purposes.

I propose the "King George Ride!!!"
Dress Like Boy George!
Act Like George Bush!
Talk Like George Forman!
Swing Like George of the Jungle!
Be Paranoid Like George Orwell!
And...
Trip out on the fringes of reality, morality and insanity like Aleister Crowley - not because there's a George reference, but because it's the thing to do, don't you know...
It could be the ride of the century - or, ride of the particular month in which we can fit it.

i think the theme is an important part of the ride... i also think that enough effort must be dedicated to the ride in order to make it special.
if someone was to organize a 2nd friday ride and not come up with a route before hand, and do a bad job leading etc... it would be shame. i'm not saying any of the people proposing an idea will do this, but my point is there are some pretty high expectations for the ride.
I don't want to prevent anyone from organizing a 2nd friday ride, but if you decide to do one, make sure you understand the responsibility you are undertaking.

i was also thinking of making the theme "the gonzo ride." it would still be appropriate to start at the police station, plus it would add an interesting element to actually start in front of the police station.
im really hoping we can make a good impression on the cops that are there and start them talking about the positive side of ridazz--even if that means we start drinking at the second stop.
im not counting on any miracles, but id like to think that encouraging both ridazz and cops to think of each other as members of the same community will bring about some change for the better.

Get it? I barely do. I'd have to cheat and use an organic, bio-chemical neural network - hopefully a bit altered by ethanol-laced, consumable distilled, mid-viscosity fluids. Maybe we'll even win the Loebner Prize if we surreptitiously hide someone in a metal box with a alarms and colored LEDs and a speech synthesizer ala Stephen Hawking?
Or, we can all dress like Robbie the Robot and talk like HAL-9000, right Dave?

Thanks, Tarmonster. That's a real compliment. This probably belongs in the other thread, but I really wasn't the awesome kid. Though in tenth grade I did talk my English teacher into letting me go sit on the lawn outside, read pretty much whatever I wanted, and do book reports and papers. I told her I had had it with studying grammar, punctuation and structure, and she could rate me on those things easily enough from my papers.
To my utter amazement, she bought it!
She was also the teacher I got to listen to Pink Floyd by telling her that she just needed to approach it like classical music (which I also loved.)
Everything else was gray melodrama - and herbal fog - just like everyone else, I guess.

Well, after two consecutive years of missing these trips, I'm doing everything in my power to get down there.
Feign illness, cut myself, say I got kidnapped, something's gotta give.
As far as the whole, "2nd Friday Anniversary vs. Salton Sea" battle goes, perhaps we should have both rides simulcasted at each of the stops/showcases both rides would have.
Webcams, wireless cards, and all that other good shit to make sure that the penniless or "held-down" aren't "down and out".
On this note, there seems to have been an increase in the amount of "out-of-city" events within the last couple of years.

No, not fucking with anyone. The truth is the county contacted a couple of the original organizers and said we're going to have to get insurance, group permits, and traffic control for the ride to Bombay Beach this year. Way too expensive.

Essentially another broke, desert county looking to enforce rules that were ignored many times before.

Well, as you can already tell, there's a brigade being called out to deal with the Tiberium infestation in the Imperial Valley and a smaller detachment heading off against NOD Blackhand forces in the Columbia River sector.
This leaves the local GDI forces in an upheaval against the indigenous NOD sympathizers and the relentless, voyeuristic tendencies of the Scrin sleeper fleets(local law enforcement).
***translation***
Groups of main MR peeps headed to either Salton Sea or PDX MBW, the local activities are up for grabs as it stands.
While we're on the subject, any Command and Conquer fans out there?
A GDI vs NOD ride would be tight.
