Alright- this is ridiculous. Either that or inevitable. Three bikes stolen from behind my house...including my fixie which I just installed a new bottom bracket and crank set on...gotta find where I put the serial number if I can.
Either way- Its a blue/grey SE bicycle...plain...purple deep v track wheels, iro cranks, tan handlebar tape, upside down bullhorn bars...I dunno- if you see it...I dunno. 10 points. More if you can get it back for me!
Living by vermont/beverly, shady. Unlocked is lazy.

My friend from work lives near there. She had multiple bikes stolen from her backyard even when they were locked up. That area is the new NYC

MAn, I think a new lock would have been a better investment thatn that BB.
Sorry that it happened. OH WAIT, NOT SORRY AT ALL. You must of had no money after all those upgrades to get a lock to protect your investment.

wow really? I can't imagine you being a bigger douche- I realize it was naive to leave the bikes unlocked, but we have neighbors who live behind us, and there's a gate to the house. I guess I didn't realize how big of balls some thieves have. They were safe there for near on a year...so you know, you get lazy. Either way, I had hoped there was more understanding in the community and fewer people like you. I guess you're just more active on message boards than genuine bikers are.

I live at 5th and Berendo, the population of shady looking fixie/single riders is on the rise. I often see them bookin it from curb to street to curb on Vermont.....maybe they'll crash themselves outa the fad.
My friend had his front quick release skewer removed while locked in front of my building; I guess the thief didn't realize the wheel was locked to the frame 'cause he just left everything in the grass, no harm done.

Unfortunately, thieves can and will eventually take advantage of easy pickings no matter where one lives. I grew up in fancypants Northern Virginia and my brother and I had our (unlocked) bikes stolen out of our (open) garage in the middle of the day once.
It may seem paranoid, but if you have to keep your bikes anywhere other than inside your apartment/house, they should be locked. And not just with a cable.
We can't say this enough.

This sounded like a perfect target for the thieves. Houses in the back so the guy, or girl going back there had a ready excuse to be back there. If the person was slick, they could have just said they were looking for a lost kitty or something too. Even if they weren't, whacha gona do? Call the cops cause someone is looking for a cat?

That's my neighborhood... I live on beverly & kenmore and there is no way in hell I would leave my shit outside. Sorry to hear about your loss though, that is beyond sucking :o(
