I got hit by a car in chinatown lost night and the guy ran off. Literally left me lying unconscious in the street. It was probably around 11 pm. I'm fine. Eight staples in the back of my head care of county usc and keeping the brains in.
In other news, I had a great time this weekend riding my bike and hanging out with various bike people. My Raleigh is fucked though, and I am super sad about that. Ride on.
Sucks. I hope you're okay and heal up fast. Sorry about your bike. I hope you might have been at an intersection with a camera.
I don't know if this applies, you might have insurance that covered this, but if not I wonder if hit & run victims could test the waters with this victim's compensation fund. Hit & run is a crime -- what if the state was flooded with hit & run victims to the compensation program??
Here's Trickmilla's original reply to WARNING BIKE JACKERS !!! thread (different circumstances, but would it be worth testing the waters for Hit & Run)??:

I'm really happy you are well enough to touch base with us here!
I recently discovered There is a "Victim Compensation Program" in CA that helps victims of crimes with medical & life expenses:
"The VCP may reimburse the following expenses if they are necessary due to a crime and if there are no other sources of reimbursement available such as health insurance, worker's compensation or other benefits. Caps or limits may apply...
Medical and medical-related expenses for the victim, including dental expenses.
Outpatient mental health treatment or counseling...
-Wage or income loss up to five years following the date of the crime. If the victim is permanently disabled, wage or income loss may be extended....
Dam Sorry to hear that bro. I hope everything turns out well for you. This Hit and Run Criminal will pay. I ride China Town all the time: Broadway and Main Street.
Roadblock is right this is not cool at all... it happened to me an that feeling of just looking at the car taken off is just like "Why?" You know we are all human like how can you not care? Well so sorry that it happened to you my friend...take care, and remember what don't kill us makes us stronger. Remember that! That meaning means more to me everyday because to me its like, we all live to ride another day. Take care...
When I got smashed by a hit and run driver and then weeks later a friend got smashed I came up with the idea of showing up to city hall with fake blood on my face. I was a bit timid about doing it... but then Birdman's assailant got off with community service and that got everyone so fired up that I put the idea back on the table as the Blood-In and Alex, Sarah and the whole crew made it happen:
Wow what a powerful statement that would make a ghostbike for every rider killed this year.Seeing one ghost bike makes people wonder what happen but seeing 20 ghost bike together wow thats a statement
For every ghost bike put up at the location of a cyclist death, put another in front of city hall. Space will fill up rather quickly and they will be forced to look at the problem daily.
Not only do the laws need to be change, but the driver education need to be changed as well. It should be much harder to get a license and bicycle education should be more than one page in the driver handbook.
Not to sound crazy(cause i am), but insurance companies love for you to get in accidents. They can jack up your rates and have high priced lawyers fighting for them so they pay as little as possible. Lining politicians pockets to pass laws that force you, as a driver, to have insurance. As bicyclists, we don't add to their bottom line, so why would they give a fuck about us. They'll fight for the driver all the way. Meanwhile, all those who were hurt will live with this for the rest of their lives. My heart goes out to all affected.
No driver found. The possibility exists, but it is so remote it probably isn't worth mentioning, which I did. I wonder if the driver responsible for my accident is aware of the KTown situation.
@ Chynna, I'm fine. I have an awesome scar on the top of my head, and a bit of belly fat from two weeks of not riding, watching television, and eating bad food.

Jeez, I am bad at this. At this moment, the possibility is only a logical one. As in: theoretically, it is still possible to find out who the driver was. I'm still waiting on information about the report, where any possible beans would reside.
