Dia De Los Muertos Ride
11.1.13
On this night, let's ride to celebrate, honor and pay respects to those who we've lost along the way, rider or
not! This is not a party ride, yet bring your festive attitude and warm smiles, fun will definately be had!
This will be a mellow pace route with segments where we will "RIDE IN SILENCE" hitting up several ghost bike altars to reflect, and colab with a Dia De Los Muertos exhibit at Red 5 Yellow 7 Gallery. You might be interviewed for the news about bike safety and ghost bikes, so dressing in theme will be highly recommended if you are interested in that!
7:00 pm - Meet at Placita Olvera to kick off the night with face painting for willing participants, spoke cards and raffled surprises. (key chain bottle openers?) 8 pm - Roll out and ride. There won't be a "supply" stop until the latter portion of the ride, but if you must, byob and plan on being as responsible as possible! We can't afford to babysit, otherwise you will be asked to not continue on the ride.
11 pm-ish - We will stop for a good while to relax and pay our respects at the Bike Oven altar before taking the river path to NoHo to visit our final ghost bike of the night. This is an opportunity for us to come together not only as a community, but a family who is determined to pull through together despite our differences. Let us bring our love of riding and share with each other how grateful we are to carry on for those no longer here. May their spirits live on through each of us...No Rider Left Behind, EVER
