Wheels of World Peace - Christmas Parade in NE L.A.
12.2.07
Sunday, December 2, 2007
MEET TIME: after 10 a.m.
PARADE START TIME: 1 pm
The Bike Oven is participating in this year's Northeast L.A. Christmas Parade! If you'd like to join riders in this years parade, here is the deal:
* Meet at the Bike Oven (3706 N. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90065) at around 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2007;
* Bring your bicycle;
* Wear traditional garb, an ethnic costume (please, do not mock anyone), or articles of clothes that in some way reflect your ethnic background or a professional trade. Some ideas for costumes: You can come as a preppie, you can be a campesino or campesina, a sari wearing Indian, a re-incarnation of Zapata, or a hard-working delivery man, factory worker, or plumber. Medieval peasants are welcome too;
* Sign the stupid release the parade organizers need you to sign;
* Ride in the parade! The parade will probably start rolling at around 1:30 p.m.
We'll have some food and water on hand Sunday morning to keep you going throughout the day. This is going to be a ridiculous good time. Last year's event was pretty awesome - we handed out decorated kiddie bikes during the ride.
Our entry into the parade, entitled “Wheels of World Peace”, is described thusly in our parade entry form:
“Riders from many cultures use their bicycles to make the world a better place by polluting less, making friends, shopping locally, and improving everyone’s quality of life.”
