Southern California 3 night bike tour, June 21-24

Below is an itinerary for a short 200 mile 3 night bike tour from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles leaving on June 21.

There are 2 confirmed riders and i am putting this ride out to the public to see if anybody else is interested.

I have done this trip several times, its along the coast, and we will have nice weather.

I have a full bike touring rig, but it really isnt necessary for this trip.

just about any bike with a rack (or a big backpack) would work. This ride is doable with a single speed as well. I have met guys touring on

fixed gears with a backpack.

I have good mechanical skill, but a decent working bike with some tools and tubes is needed. Total cost will be less than 100 bucks.

If you want to try bike touring, this is an easy intro. There are food stores all along the way, you dont need a stove. tents are optional as

well, it will be warm

thursday june 21

catch the pacific surfliner from Union Station at 730am , arrive san luis obispo at 1245 pm, (train is about 30 bucks)

ride 60 miles south to lompoc, camp at city campground

ride 68 miles from lompoc to carpinteria, camp at oceanfront park, across street from brewpub and grill it yourself steakhouse (we will hit

both)

sat june 23

ride 50 miles from carpinteria to leo carillo state beach in malibu, camp at carillo near beach

sun june 24

ride 46 miles back to Echo park
