RIDE-Arc is a monthly social bicycle ride in the cool evening air with a loose, vaguely referenced Architectural theme, mixed with some Urban Anthropology and your own personal sense of adventure and discovery. Awesome rides, good vibes taking you to places that shape the Los Angeles urban landscape.



Something is growing in Los Angeles, and you're part of it.



Ever get that feeling that your world is getting smaller, tighter? As if, somehow, slowly, people around town know you, and greet you with a smile? Notice how that little neighborhood you've been going to got that new stoplight, just when you were about to complain to the city? And what about that time you found out the roads were repaired, yet you still hadn't quite finished that letter to your local councilman (or councilwoman)? Notice how those doors opened automatically for you when you were walking into the grocery store? It's like they KNEW you were going to go through them... And what about that white flower van, Flowers By Irene, that always seems to be parked across the street? When are they going to deliver those flowers anyway?



You're right, they're watching you.

Okay, no, just kidding.

Almost.



We are proud, honored, and humbled to present this ride to you - a dialogue about the emerging efforts of sustainability in Los Angeles. We are especially privileged to have this ride lead and mostly arranged by the legendary Ron Milam - co-founder of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, much sought after consultant to CBOs, NGOs, NPOs, and a gentleman of such enthralling energy and eco-sustainability that "e;farmers" in Humboldt County speak his name in mantras while "harvesting."



So, who's responsible for this revolution of eco-consciousness and community development?

Is it your neighbours?

Gerald, the homeless guy who picks up your recyclables from your bins the night before "garbage day?"

Yo-mama?

Yo-Yo Ma?

What about "architects" dressed in black from Columbia University or SCI-Arc?

Couple blocks from Union Station (Metro Red Line)



We chose this starting location for its centrality to the route, as well as being proximal to Union Station for those of us who are more inclined towards public transportation. The ride may end at this location, however you may be inspired to use your new found 'sustainability' to keep riding.
