A Passion for the Living, A Recognition of the Dead:

Monsters Come from What's in Your Head.



Yes, ladies and gentleman, RIDE-Arc returns to form in October. Did you miss us? We missed ourselves.



We are presenting to you a gathered manifesto from Mary Shelley for the month of October.

At the age of 20, Mary wrote and completed The Modern Promethius or Frankenstein.

What did you do at the age of 20? Yeah? Really? That's what we thought.

What's more, Mary is, singlehandedly, the cause of broken hearts for countless Vampires - just look at that neckline! You'd think it was wooden stakes driven into their hearts - oh no, that would be too easy. They wanted Mary. Mary, however, being a Romantic, had other things in mind such as exploring nature, a fondness for Scotland and Switzerland, and lavish clothing described in the utmost detail. Did she enjoy Velocipedes? We can not say - but we can optimistically assume she did, and honor her as such. Yes, there certainly was Something About Mary.



Please note:



* We have been asked by the places we are visiting that there is NO drinking on premises or grounds. Please respect this rule - you are representing RIDE-Arc and its future, so carry yourself well.

* In order to make this possible, and by a bill that was given to us to make part of this ride even possible, we will be collecting $2 per person. If, between now and the ride, the US dollar drops even further, we may request it in Euros.

* Please go to the bathroom before the ride begins - out of respect to the places we will be going, there are no bathrooms available - and going off into a 'dark corner' to 'visit nature' will have us promptly removed from the grounds. Besides, other, more vicious things may happen to you while you sleep afterwards.



RIDE-Info - It ranges at a minimum of 20 miles, however: "your own exploration of the soul and human nature may substantially increase the distances you travel" The ride begins a 9:00pm - take note. We are leaving early because of where we need to go, the distances we are traveling, and out of lessons from August's ride.



The weather will be chilling.

We chose this starting location for its centrality to the route, as well as being proximal to Union Station for those of us who are more inclined towards public transportation. The ride *DOES NOT* end at this location, however the end of your journey is never far from its beginning.

Because RIDE-Arc does not carry a multi-million dollar insurance policy (remember how we're so non-profit we can't even afford to make ourselves an official non-profit?), we have made special arrangements with the places we will be visiting. For this reason, we are explicitly stating the following disclaimer and by participating in this ride, you are agreeing to the following:



"Organizers, proponents and participants of RIDE-Arc claim no responsibility for the actions of individuals participating in the ride, nor of individuals on foot or in motorized vehicles. Participants are responsible for their own safety and behavior in relation to other participants, drivers of vehicles, and the law. RIDE-Arc does not condone violence, vandalism, wanton disregard for public safety, disruption of public transit or emergency vehicles, or any violations of state or local laws. The organisers of RIDE-Arc claim no responsibility for the safety of bicyclists who chose to follow previous routes. Check current road conditions prior to venturing on the routes provided.

Riders participating in the RIDE-Arc ride starting around 9:00 pm on October 5, 2007 agree to disclaim any and all claims against RIDE-Arc, its founders, managers and organizers, and the owners of the properties being visiting on route, arsing from any injuries to the undersigning participant's person or personal property.

Further, participating riders agree to indemnify Ride-Arc, its organizers, founders and managers, for any costs or fines (including but not limited to attorney's fees and all other legal costs) resulting from claims arising from your participation in the October 5, 2007 Ride-Arc ride."



Furthermore, there will be some disclaimer signatures of this same statement needed at two parts of the ride in particular... this is a minor inconvenience, and all apologies aside, we can assure you that your signature will not be without reward. Image capturing device recommended.
