Cold War Ride Part Deux ,DMSR rides to slice of Russia in WeHo. EARLY MEET : 630 PM, Roll:700 PM from Pasadena
03.31.11
Early START TIME: Meet 630, Roll at 700
Another Cold War ride? That’s Bolshevik! I mean, seriously, what the bourgeoisie? It’s spring in So Cal. Though the air feels crisp and cool, it doesn’t exactly remind you of the ski trips you and the fam took in Siberia back in the day. So why Cold Ride Part Deux, why another back-back in the DMSSR if you will? Well, rising tensions in the Mid-East call for gentler times here at home. A time when war was fought with words, pejoratives like commie pinko or capitalist pig. Forget the present-day autocrat whose last name always reads with a different spelling. Think Ronnie and Mikhail. Rocky and Drago. Let’s go back to a time that was totally tubular. Let’s go back even farther. In fact, let’s . . .
leave the West behind
Moscow girls make me sing and shout
That Georgia's always on my mind
Yeah I'm back in the D.M.S.S.R.
You don't know how lucky you are boys
Back in the D.M.S.S.R.
Anyway, we’ll be headed to Stolichnaya Bakery in W. Hollywood. They have piroshkies and all sorts of delicious Russian pastries and deserts. Last time the surly, old Mother Russian man behind the counter provided entertainment of all sorts. Quote lines from the Communist Manifesto and he will give you a shot of vodka. Actually, no, but it would be a lot cooler if he did.
Theme it up if you like. Last time we had Rocky Balboa and a couple who wore those fuzzy East Block hats (Can’t think of what they’re called) We welcome your creativity once more. Big ups to anyone who paints the Gorbachev birthmark across the forehead. Here’s the skinny:
