The LAteCM at 8pm (postponed)
02.25.11
We will ride out from the traditional LACM spot (Wilshire / Western) at 8pm.
(LACM typically leaves promptly at 7:30)
This ride will be in the tradition of Critical Mass: No owner, no leader, no hierarchy.
We will be a relatively small group and will make every effort to leave no ridaa behind.
We will ride as traffic: we will be taking the right lane, holding our line, and riding clear of parked cars.
The front will stop for red lights and stale yellows. We will work to keep the group together.
We ride for the slowest ridaa not the fastest.
Why LAteCM?
- You can't make it on time to LACM
- You would rather ride with 40 people than 2,000
- You prefer to ride with an autonomous group of cyclists than a ride that is corked, patrolled, facilitated
and enforced by the cops.
Last month we followed LACM to Venice because that's what the majority of people wanted to do.
In November (the unofficial LAteCM beta) we rendezvoused with an Alt. LACM ride.
TIPS:
- Show up late for LACM but on time for our ride. We leave at 8pm sharp.
- People who want to smash hard to catch up to the main ride are encouraged to group up and leave at
7:45
- Safety & respect are paramount.
- If you want to tweet or follow LAteCM use the hash tag #LAteCM (I'll be tweeting locations &
destination @PatrickMMiller)
- We have no direction or agenda. If people want to split off and go their own way they are more than
welcome to but we encourage you to
do it as a group (it's funner & safer).
- 4+ people is a "Critical Mass": Own the road and you will get more respect.
- Pump up your tires to their recommended pressure! And make sure your bike is in good working
order. (especially if you are riding a
mountain, cruiser, or other "slower" bike).
Happy Friday!
Ride on!
DISCUSS
Hey ... i just decided to cancel this one.
I am assuming that LACM will be smaller than usual, so we'll save the LAteCM for next month.
