Burning Man Metropolis Decom Bike Ride!

Bust out your *blingy,* *blinky,* and *beepy* bikes, it's time to party!!!

You can get around Black Rock City on a bike, so why not in our own "Metropolis" of Los Angeles?

On Saturday, October 2, 2010, the LA Burning Man Decompression Festival ("Decom") - the destination of this ride - will be taking place with the theme of envisioning what a "Metropolis" could be, cutting across the art and theme camps this year:

Could LA be more like Black Rock City? Imagine seeing everyone on bikes, having fun, getting exercise, and cleaner air?? Like Burning Man, LA will be closing several streets to cars the next weekend after Decom so pedestrians, bikes, skaters, and everyone else can enjoy the first-ever CicLAvia event - www.ciclavia.org - in our town; check it out!

Show up at Decom in style with your biking buddies from Midnight Ridazz, whether you've been to Burning Man or not :-)

There will be a contest to see who has the best *blinky* lighting, *beeby* sound, and *bling* on your bike!

Meet at 4:20 PM :-) in front of the street entrance to the Metro Red Line Hollywood/Highland Station, riding to Decom at the LA State Historic Park ("the Cornfields") in downtown.

The route will be mostly downhill, with two small uphills; the ride may take about an hour.

After the ride, there will be a contest to see who has the best *blinky* lighting, *beepy* sound, and *bling* on your bike, so bring your friends to cheer! We'll be rounding up the contestants at the EcoLounge after dark, around 7:00 PM.

Just like Burning Man, this is a self-directed activity by each person, so bring your "radical self-reliance" to take care of your bike if you have a flat tire, helmet, etc., and don't forget to bring a bike lock too!
