How-To's & Hubs - A Bike Ride for Ladies and Allies

Do you like to bike, but not so sure about biking on the LA streets? Wish you knew a little bit more about how your bike works and how to bike safe? Love to feel the wind whistling through your helmet on a sunny Saturday morning? Want to get to know more about downtown? Do you li...ke having fun?!

Then join Madeline, Dorothy and Lauren for our â€œHow Toâ€™s and Hubsâ€ bike ride! Weâ€™ll be exploring the hubs of DT and the hubs of our bikes this Saturday, July 17, 11am with a friendly no biker left behind ride. The streets of Downtown are flat and mellow on weekend days, and full of mystery and wonder â€“ and this Saturday, cyclists! We'll stop at 4 hubs to learn about 4 areas of savvy cycling.

1. How to fix a flat

2. How to make adjustments on your bike (brakes, seat, etc)

3. How to ride transit with your bike

4. How to ride safe (locking up, door zone, signaling, etc)

Why ladies and allies? The LA County Bicycle Coalition's recent bike count revealed only 14% of cyclists in LA are women, and this is often because of safety concerns or unfamiliarity with bike mechanics. The upside is, together we can address these concerns â€“ and thus the How Toâ€™s and Hubs ride was born. Our lady leaders will demonstrate important how toâ€™s while we ride together and get a feel for the streets. All gender identities are warmly welcomed!
