Life Can Be So Car-Free
09.30.06
On Sept. 30th we are hosting Life Can Be So Car-Free at the new L.A. State
Historic Park near Chinatown (formerly the Not A Cornfield project site)
What’s so cool about this?
We have the park AFTER HOURS from 5-10PM...so that means we can all hang out and celebrate our auto-lite and/or auto-freeness by enjoying food and drink (picnic style) on the grass, watching the sun set behind the downtown skyline while listening to some dope music performed by Triple Chicken Foot and Telematique. Go on a HOT interpretive bike ride led by Joe Linton (FoLAR) around neighborhood, or take an awesome interpretive walk around the park with Carmelo Alvarez (Not a Cornfield). Check out various car-free transportation choices at the resource section, and end the night with Ashira Siegel’s (Red Riding Hood Productions) short film selections which will feature bad-ass-bikers, skateboarders, and yeah... crazy walkers and a bit more.
But we need your help with a few things...
This event is not only to celebrate what we all love... bike riding. We also want other non-bike people to see why we love biking and other forms of car-free transportation, and how these transportation choices help bring L.A. to LIFE (you all know what we’re talking about).
So bring your car-bound family, friends, coworkers, strangers etc...
and show them what’s up. Bring them to the event and to the resource section where they can see how it’s done and how they can start doing it themselves.
Life Can Be So Car-Free happens on Saturday September 30, 2006 from 5 PM to 10 PM at the new Los Angeles State Historic Park in downtown Los Angeles, 1245 N. Spring St. Bring a picnic and friends to enjoy the sunset behind the L.A. skyline.
