Urban Expeditions:
Shakespeare Ride
Sunday, July 18th, 2010 @ 4:00 pm
Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round parking lot
Take note, take note, O world: Urban Expeditions presents the Shakespeare Ride on Sunday, July 18th at 4:00 pm. Shakespearean
costumes optional!!
No hinge nor loop to hang a doubt on. Riders should meet starting at 4:00 at the Merry-Go-Round parking lot, right inside the Los
Feliz/Riverside entrance to Griffith Park, where they can see the 1926 Spillman Merry-Go-Round, check out the C.I.C.L.E. events calendar,
and socialize with other cyclists. The ride begins promptly at 4:30pm, meandering leisurely through Los Feliz to the Shakespeare Bridge.
But this denoted a foregone conclusion: Our ride will end just before 7:00 pm at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park, in time to watch the acclaimed
Independent Shakespeare Co.’s production of Othello at their new summer stage! So, bring a blanket and snacks if you plan to stay for the
show!
C.I.C.L.E.’s Urban Expeditions program is made possible with support from REI. Visit www.CICLE.org or call 323.478.0060 for more
information.
Date: Sunday, July 18th
Time: 4:00 pm (ride leaves promptly at 4:30 pm)
Location: Meet at the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round Parking lot, 4730 Crystal Springs Dr., Los Angeles, 90027. Lot is on West side of
Crystal Springs Drive about halfway between the Zoo and Los Feliz/Riverside entrance to Griffith Park; just follow the signs, of which there
are plenty coming from either end. Ride will end at the Old Zoo, which is right across Griffith Park Drive from our starting point at the Merry-
Go-Round. The play will begin promptly at 7:00 and may be subject to a no-late-entry rule.
Price: Free. Independent Shakespeare Co. gratefully accepts donations.
What to Bring: Your bicycle, in good running order. (Please have bike inspected and tuned at least once a year at a bike shop.) All
participants under 18 must wear a helmet and be escorted by a parent or guardian. Children under age 8 should be on a tag-a-long, bike
trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device to participate in the ride. It will get cool so you will want to bring some warm cover and
please make sure any period costumes will not get caught in your bike!
