One or more persons during a certain period drop their usual motives for movement and action, their relations, their work and leisure activities, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.
It's a bike ride.

It meets every Wednesday at 8:30pm at California Donuts #21.
We ride at 9pm.
We'll endeavor to return before the last red line trains (around midnight). See how we move.
On the second year of this bike ride, you might expect:
- more inconvenient passageways
- more full moon picnics
- perhaps more "cover" versions of other people's rides, performed with amateurish enthusiasm
- certainly more amateurish enthusiasm
- disorientation
- reorientation
- pool halls
- bowling alleys
- dance parties
- karaoke
- imaginary histories
- scavenging for fun and sustenance
- more geocaching
- more oblique strategies
- more Oulipian constraints
- traffic median tea parties (really, we're going to get to this)
Furthermore:
- A medium pace (maybe not for beginners; certainly not a hustle)
- But we're not in a rush; we don't need to run every light.
- About 25 miles; one long hill.
- Few stops; short stops.
- Victory donuts!
Do you always seem to be falling in spectacular fashion? Do you feel the public has drastically underestimated the dangers of land shark attacks? Do you really need to get to Wally World? Or perhaps you have some important tidbits of Zen golfing wisdom you'd like to share?
Well then this may just be the ride for you!
This week, we're looking at 25 miles, with one long hill. It's not super steep for most of the way, but it gets up there; oh, you can be sure of that. What this means, of course, is that we get some really nice views.
We also get about 1/2 mile of dirt, some of which you will almost certainly want to walk instead of ride. And this will be just fine because, as we mentioned, you'll have all those pretty views to look at.
And what more could you want from life, really?
