What’s your name (optional) and/or your Midnight Ridazz log-in name?

Julia, Meow, Kitty

How did you first hear about Midnight Ridazz and what was your first group bike ride?

Syoma told me about Crank Mob many times. I was pretty skeptical, I thought it would be some raver madness punk obstacle, but really I was just mad because my mom wouldn’t let me go out all night in the streets on a bike. How do I explain this to her? She thinks I have too much fun now, and I said yeah, that’s the point.

Currently what rides do you attend regularly and what ride(s) would you like to see make a comeback?

Gosh… I think I’ve been on most regular rides at least once… Wolfpack is on my mind pretty often, but I have never been on it. Wolf-Kitty? It’s going to happen... one day soon.. I love Crank Mob, out of town rides hosted by locals (bless the locals), Friends of the Friendless, Spoken Art Ride- I love the idea behind this ride. RWNN, Mosey, MR 2nd Friday (THEMES! <3)… SFV rides (born & raised in the valley!), tall bike ride, prom ride (Shues’ sisters apt mushrooms<3) , LOS (sand) ANGELOPES, Robotz made me faster. AH! The events, the rode trips, Santacon, The Box, The Hot Box, The Rabbit Hole, Bombai Beach! Bike Porn, Block parties, bike parking! San Fransisco, Portland, New Orleans, Choppercobras-jumping in some persons pool with Marcus that we only saw because we were riding tall bikes then going to Sarah Danya’s mansion and playing chicken in the pool while everyone was on mushrooms and I just entered the best relationship of my entire life that day! San Diego’s Cretins ride, did I mention Crank Mob? Made me dress the way I do everyday since the first time I went on that ride. Holy cwap, I am having so much fun writing this. Barley this was such a good idea. Bike Oven! Bikerowave! Bike Kitchen! I’m hungry! Long Beach has its only bike co-op now, just opened, called the Hub, right off the blue line @ PCH station. Bicycle film festival! 328! Toy ride! Sins and Sprockets! Share cuts! 818 Bike Polo! City council meetings, New Years 2009 @ the hot box! New Years 2010 in New Orleans! FUNDERSTORM!!!!**!!**!!** Are you having fun yet? I love that question!

What advice would you pass on to new ridazz?

Put a fucking break on your new stolen fixie. Drink a lot of water. Smoke people out, go veg. Be yourself, relax, we don’t judge until you think we’re judging. Train, get faster. Don’t talk about your past life because this is the future. If you see a car coming towards you because you are on the other side of the road, THEN GO TO YOUR RIGHT. Golden rule still applies here, signal to vehicles and other riders if you are moving left or right or stopping. Brush your teef. Don’t start smoking cigarettes because everyone else is.

If you were leading a group ride, what would you do differently?

Leaders get megaphones. Rides are amazing, nothing, I wouldn’t change anything. I would change the people that steal bikes into funguses, then I would run them over with the bike they stole back to its owner.

Do you prefer small rides (30 or less people) or larger rides and why?

All. I just like to see at least 2 or 3 good friends, and I always do.

Tell us about the best and worst experience you’ve encountered on a group ride.

Best and worst are the same- first Crank Mob I was trying to show off, or I can’t handle my liquor… I went off a ramp with a beer in my hand and ate it. The best is too hard to talk about because it just gets better. I like the road trips the best, I think... I like advocating bicycle riding, and letting other cities know the extremity of this sheet.

What did you do for fun before you started “riding”?

Like I said, this is the future.

What’s the best and worst thing group bike rides have done for cycling as a whole in Los Angeles?

This city is the most smog concentrated city I’ve ever smelled in. I want to cry just typing about this. I hate the shit out of the air in Los Angeles and I’m dying quicker because of it. Riding bikes is like kissing the road with our tires, with every rotation. Then the road sends message to the sky that are pure as distilled water, saying, hey there are people trying to change things. We’re advocating abandoning a vehicle with poison shooting out of it butthole to exercise and get around.

Worst: attract the legal issues when people ride dumb, steal on rides or tag.

If you can name one person who embodies the spirit of “Midnight Ridazz”, Who would it be and Why?

Why I choose Matt Stillline? I don’t know... He’s just one of those people… Larsen and Fuzz are making bikes everyday, that’s pretty fucking Midnight Ridazz of them.

And of course, Roadblock is Roadblock.

What do you think the public’s perception is of group bike rides?

Where are you riding for? Why on you riding on? Who are you riding to? When are you riding with? “WHY?!? IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE BUT MY LIFE WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER IF I JOINED THEM!” Thought vehicle driver number D43H521K

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Number one planet, Get on your Sheli, Never Forget, Always forget, Uncle Newark, Eddie boy in LA hates the Wesside & white people are a really controversial subject for him. My life is balanced out with school/ concentration and (somewhat) sobriety during the week then during the weekends I lose it in the best way possible on a ride or with the friends I’ve made because of riding and things are always funny. Sometimes… we get naked and jump in water. Average people do not get naked and go into hot springs with their friends. Average people don’t ride 30-50 miles every weekend.
