GOOSE GOOSE

What’s your name (optional) and/or your Midnight Ridazz log-in name?

My name is Henry Jose. And yes, Jose is my last name. My handle is Goose Goose. It's a nick name that sort of stuck since high school. All my friends from the past still call me that. It was also my name I used when I used to direct porn.

How did you first hear about Midnight Ridazz and what was your first group bike ride?

I first heard of the Midnight Ridazz through my good friend Jose and 'Westside Carl'. They told me it's a bunch of bikers who get together and drink. My very first ride was a C.R.A.N.K MOB in March of 09. I was blown away when I saw that amount of people on bikes together. I've been hooked since.

Currently what rides do you attend regularly and what ride(s) would you like to see make a comeback?

Currently I ride Taco Tuesday and MOM Ridaz rides all the time. Monthly, I go to RWNN, Thee F Ride, 2nd Friday Rides, and the FMLY ride. Although I would like to see C.R.A.N.K MOB come back monthly, I think having it yearly could be better.

What advice would you pass on to new ridazz?

Although I think it's fun to drink and ride, you have to know your limit and not drink to a point where you can no longer ride your bike. We all have to remember one of the main reasons why we ride….To bring awareness to Los Angeles, a city notorious for traffic and car pollution, that there are other alternatives in getting around this great city.

If you were leading a group ride, what would you do differently?

No liquor stops.

Do you prefer small rides (30 or less people) or larger rides and why?

I love both. Smaller because it's way more intimate and you get to know people on the ride better. Larger rides are fun because the look on pedestrians’ faces is priceless. And when you look behind and you see the amount of ridazz stretching down the street is awe inspiring.

Tell us about the best and worst experience you’ve encountered on a group ride. One of my best experiences on a ride was Taco Tuesday's Terminus ride going from Pasadena down to Long Beach. What an experience. We rode all night. 70+ miles. Great people on that ride. I didn't get home until noon the next day. Worst experience was going down to Compton for a ride. Never again.

What did you do for fun before you started “riding”?

Hung out with hipsters and got drunk at bars.. I guess you can say I'm doing the same thing only on wheels.

What’s the best and worst thing group bike rides have done for cycling as a whole in Los Angeles?

It defiantly shows LA awareness of bikes on the street. We are vehicles on the road too and I believe group rides give a strong standpoint in who we are. The worst is causing havoc bigger rides on busy street especially the circle of death on Hollywood and Highland,

If you can name 1 person who embodies the spirit of “Midnight Ridazz”, Who would it be and Why?

There are sooo many ridazz that I’ve met that have become some of my closest friends and even have called my 2nd family (MoM Ridaz).. The people who lead Taco Tuesday: XL, Uncle Richard, and Cesar are a great vibe to be around with. Eddie Boy is another person that had always been there and I am proud to call a friend. But if I had to pick one person that really embodies the spirt of "MR" is probably Alfredo Sauce. I have never really met someone who is genuinely nice to everyone on rides and is a cool person to hang out with. He is perfect example of what a Midnight Rida should be.

What do you think the public’s perception is of group bike rides?

Very mixed. It's fun riding where everyone cheers, giving high fives, and even yelling out "Yea! Midnight Ridazz!!" However I've seen some ugly scenes where people yell, threaten to run us over, and even as far as macing us. We should respect cars and people when we all ride. Provoking people and yelling "Fuck You" to cars only make it worse on the bike community.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Dont worry about a thing...Cause every little thing, gonna be all right.
