YO DELICIOUS

What’s your name (optional) and/or your Midnight Ridazz log-in name?
Erin aka yo delicious aka "that chick who never logs in anymore unless someone points me to a thread that is pertinent to my interests"

How did you first hear about Midnight Ridazz and what was your first group bike ride?
I moved to LA to live with my good friend brassknuckle and he insisted i ride bikes with him and his friends. i was hesitant but immediately fell into the lifestyle on my first group ride - heavy metal II. it was raining and i didn't finish but the next day i was up and out the door for pier pressure!

Currently what rides do you attend regularly and what ride(s) would you like to see make a comeback?
i am a cranky old woman and i don't do many group rides regularly. when i was riding more, i always did sins n sprockets and the chill chinatown mosey. for a time, i did crank mob but it got too rowdy for me. now i make ride with no name when i can get my lazy bones out of the house. otherwise, i ride with a small group of friends or just use my bike for transportation

What advice would you pass on to new ridazz?
Don't make everyone else look bad with shitty attitudes and obnoxious public behavior. it's a GROUP ride. just have fun riding with the awesome people around you. oh, and HOLD YOUR LINE!

If you were leading a group ride, what would you do differently?
There's a reason i don't lead. i leave that thankless task to the brave people who help us wind our way through fantastic routes, stumbling across cops, pedestrians, beautiful sights, sounds, smells, into and out of neighborhoods we've never seen, over hills and valleys, and back home again safely. thank you ride leaders!

Do you prefer small rides (30 or less people) or larger rides and why?
Small rides are more conversational and evenly paced. i like them for that. big rides tend to be a big party with so much going on and sometimes that's fun but i'm more comfortable in smaller groups without so much drama/activity

Tell us about the best and worst experience you’ve encountered on a group ride.
Best... hooting through tunnels, getting high fives from pedestrians who stop to watch us parade by, crazy vistas of LA, everyone mashing uphill in a unified struggle against gravity (sometimes failing and the camaraderie of walking the rest of the way up to the top and being met by all your friends who made it already and have a cold beer waiting for you). worst... people throwing things at you because they don't understand what it's like to have fun on your bike with your friends, cars that purposefully buzz you, dumbasses who fuck it up for the rest of us when they do shit that gets blamed on the whole group (i.e., tagging, stealing, destroying private property, blatantly disobeying cops when they're clearly watching so they stop everyone in a two block radius).

What did you do for fun before you started “riding”?
I don't remember! maybe a lot of TV and money spent at bars. oh, and i wore more make up and pretty clothes back then because i wasn't worried about bike grease and helmet sweat. :)

What’s the best and worst thing group bike rides have done for cycling as a whole in Los Angeles?
Best... brought together people who would not have met had it not been for the common thread of biking, gotten folks off the sofa and into a community. worst... a very small fraction of the community has given all of us the taint of troublemaker due to their actions. but they're really tiny so it's more hurtful that they should matter so much.

If you can name 1 person who embodies the spirit of “Midnight Ridazz”, Who would it be and Why?
Tarsis. because just like MR, you find her glitter confetti all up in your shit long after you've said goodbye for the night. i mean really, how many streets have i walked/biked only to randomly run into a bike friend who's ready to share food, friendship, and fun! and not just in LA either!

What do you think the public’s perception is of group bike rides?
Depends on the person - crazy mass hysteria to political terrorists to a bunch of kids having a good time

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
When is this ride starting?
