When? - President's Day Weekend, February 12th -15th,

What? - Carpool out to Salton Sea to camp, and ride our bicycles.

Where? - Slab City and Salvation Mountain are in the mix.

Theme!


THE THEME FOR MIDNIGHT RIDAZZ : SALTON SEA - 2010...

A long, long time ago, the Salton Sink was about as desolate of a place you can possibly go. It was as low as Death Valley, just as hot, but much larger. One day it was accidentally filled with water to became the Salton Sea, the largest body of water in California.

Its water was fresh, its surface was calm and as smooth as glass. Cities started to pop up along its banks. Speed-boat records were being broken, and water skiing was flourishing. It was a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert.

Then things started to die.

The pristine lake began to dry up, dead birds floated on its surface, and the putrid smell of rotting fish filled the scalding air. This forced the people leave, leaving all they built behind.

Now a land of death and decay, nature has taken over. Leaving behind a clean slate, or literally blank slabs, in its place. This is our future. This is the opportunity to create our refuge:

COSTS: $5 EACH RIDA

PACK IT IN / PACK IT OUT

This means TRASH. Don't fucking let it hit the ground.

There will NOT be a community trashcan.

There will NOT be a community recycling bin.

Any trash you bring, or create, YOU BRING IT HOME WITH YOU.

Even if you borrow a kitchen, you take the trash and scraps that you create.

If you bring drinks, even recyclable bottles and cans, no one is going to sort that shit for you, so YOU BRING IT HOME WITH YOU.

This includes CIGARETTE BUTTS.

This includes "BIODEGRADABLE" shit.

We police our own. No one is going to feel sorry for you if another one of us catches you littering and tears you a new one. You've been warned. Some of you may have witnessed my patience and temper tested. You will lose, because when it comes to trash, I will be right.

BRING YOUR OWN TRASH BAG.

LEAVE NO TRACE, ASSHOLES.



1. There aren't any "organizers" for this event, it's a DIY event.

2. The only "organizing" will be a couple rides that are basically the same rides before (Bombay Beach and Niland Critical Mass) and more TBA.

3. $5 being collected, per person, for community fire and potties.

4. This isn't burning man, people live there, so realize that it's not a war-zone that we can trash. It's a place that welcomes us, and we need to be just as respectful.

5. We are 1-hour from the Mexican border, and there are Homeland Security everywhere - they WILL SEARCH YOU, YOUR TENT, YOUR VEHICLE.

6. Salton Sea is NOT A FREE FOR ALL, you can die, go to jail, or get injured if you do something stupid. Don't do something stupid.

Bikes!


For the best time, bring a FAT-TIRED BIKE. Many of us are in a Bike “Cult”. And we’re bringing bikes.
We are going to ride these bikes to various destinations, one location is 20 miles - one way.
But those without bikes can carpool and meet us.

There will be 4 rented portopotties and a large pit campfire.


Additional Information!


You are responsible for everything to stay alive!

You bring your own food and enough water for the whole weekend.

It get's cold at night so bring warm clothes.

You are responsible for your own trash.

You are responsible for yelling at people about littering.

When adventuring stick together. Phones wont work a lot of the time.

Bring water based paint to donate to Salvation Mountain if you want.
