Mountaineerzz rolls on the first Saturday of the month.


We're hitting the dirt on Saturday morning, 2.6.09.


Meet at 10:30am, Roll at 10:45am sharp


Location: Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf - 6401 Platt Avenue (at Victory Blvd), West Hills, CA - 2.6
miles west of the Orange Line Station at Canoga Ave. & Victory Blvd.



The route: get ready for some epic riding through a variety of desolate canyons hidden behind Bell Canyon,
Simi Valley and Agoura.

We'll jump on some fireroads in an open space area that looks straight out of Africa and head through the
rolling hills.

A couple of canyons later, we pop on to our first of at least five singletracks and connect to another open
space area with entirely different terrain.

A mix of truck trails, fire roads, a few patches of slickrock and more singletrack loops us back toward home
where we veer slightly south and head through our third open space area.

Then there's a quick monster descent on a scary fast asphalt hill and we're back in the flatlands of suburbia
just a couple of miles from where we began.

The ride will return to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on Platt Ave. about five or six hours later.

This ride's got it all. A huge variety of terrain, challenging climbs, exhilarating downhills and some pretty
unique obstacles not to mention the stunning flora and fauna.

This is my new favorite loop and even though it'll kick your ass, I guarantee you're gonna love it or your
money back.

On the right are a few pictures of the area I snapped on a recent scouting ride.

Water and food are scarce so bring plenty of both.

There will be asphalt! Like a ten or twenty minutes of road riding to the trails and back.

Mountaineerzz is an urban mountain biking ride.

Translation - we ride the streets to the trailhead. If riding knobby tires on pavement offends your
sensibilities, than this is not the ride for you.

Bring food, water, tools, patch kit and a spare tube.

Helmets are strongly recommended. Hell, they should be mandatory.
