TAKING IT ALL OFF... FOR ART/5

Huge Public Art Work Will Be Unveiled at Eco-LogicalART on Dec 12th at 7pm.



Los Angeles, CA. In a bold act of high art high-jacking, Peter Schulberg of the nonprofit Eco-LogicalART Gallery presents "TAKING IT ALL OFF FOR... ART/5". The unique urban event features a dramatic “live” curtain drop at 7 pm, December 12, 2009 to reveal “Facing LA”. Hand painted on recycled billboard vinyl by artists Lynsey Johnson, Kayla Silber, and "The Guz", the stunning 14' x 48' triptych will be installed directly above gallery. A free and open to the public interior show also includes cutting edge art created from up-cycled media, "green" accessories in the Eco-LA "Recovery Room", billboard art painting, live art welding, video, a DJ-- and libations.



Once unveiled “Facing LA” will be seen 35,000 times daily and a million times by month's end. With commercial ads relentlessly pounding the skyline, curator Schulberg feels the guerrilla style “drive-by”exhibit is a perfect LA fit. “We always get slammed for having too many cars, too many billboards and not being pedestrian friendly. But free art, seen by millions—with an eco twist—what’s better than that?”



The “street” seems to agree. The previous “Taking It Off” shows have drawn major press, swarms of fixie wheel bike club riders, the Kogi taco truck, and hundreds of spectators to the gallery's mid-city location to experience the “drops” live. Schulberg is inspired by the public response (over 40 million people have seen the art to date) and is now working on a city-wide multi-billboard curtain drop event for Earth Day 2010. But December is our “curtain call” he says so, “like the Times Square ball drop, help us take '09 out in style!"



And though for Eco-LA being green usually means creating a lighter carbon footprint, Schulberg admits-- happily, that when it comes to Taking It All Off... For ART... “Yes, we are huge-- and in our case bigger IS better!"
