Gypsy Ride

Saturday, April 7th

START TIME: Gather 7 PM, Roll 8 PM


The Gypsies are coming to Los Angeles, and they're gonna have a party. There will be two bike trailer sound systems providing the dance music and as they roll into various locations between Pasadena and Downtown to have impromtu parties, complete with dancing and costumes.


The locations may include strip mall parking lots, parks, plazas, alleys and metro stations.


Bring a bike, gypsy attire, drinks, snacks, face paint, drums and/or other gypsy party paraphernalia. Refer to the pictures for costume ideas. No need to be authentic - just don't come in your everyday clothes!


You can return to the start by bike or by metro (last train from Union Station at 11:52 PM)



We'll meet at the Von's parking lot, close to California Blvd

If arriving by goldline, get off at the Filmore station. Go west on Filmore to end, Right on Fair Oaks, 2 blocks, Left on California, 1.5 blocks.

Activities



Clothes Grab Bag


Bring one or more interesting or silly articles of clothing to put in the clothes grab bag. Then you will take articles of clothing out the bag without looking, and wear the choosen article(s).



GypsyRidazz Fire Dance



Once dancer will tuck a piece of paper into her/his back pocket or waistband leaving a short tail hanging out. A second dancer will follow behind with a lit candle/match/lighter trying to set the tail on fire. The first dancer must move his or her hips vigorously to prevent the paper tail from catching fire.



GypsyRidazz Challenge
A prize will be given to the winning team of this to-be-announced relay race challenge.



Costume Ideas


Be creative - don't wory about being authentic. It's about having fun.



Both men and women: Wear colorfull clothes. Wear multiple layers of clothes. Wear a scarf on your head and/or around your waist. Wear a wig. Bring a tamborine or other instrument. Wear something vintage.



Women: Wear multiple skirts (with pants or shorts underneath in case you need to move/remove the skirts for the ride), or a skirt with a sarong or scarves on top. Wear extra eye shadow, eyeliner, etc. Multiple necklaces.



Men: Wear short baggy pants, or cut-off pants. Wear a vest. Wear a fake mustache. Wear anything from the womens list if you dare.
