Film Screening: “Contested Streets”
03.21.07
Wednesday
START TIME: 7pm
Join C.I.C.L.E. for a screening of CONTESTED STREETS. This rich
documentary explores the history and culture of New York City streets
from pre-automobile times to the present; examining how the city has
slowly relinquished what was a rich, multi-dimensional conception of
the street as public space, to a mindset that prioritizes the rapid
movement of cars and trucks over all other functions.
The film also explores London, Paris and Copenhagen, and analyzes how
each of these cities has limited automobile use in recent years, which
has resulted in improved air quality, minimized noise pollution and
enriched commercial, recreational and community interaction.
Screens at the Patagonia Pasadena store
47 N Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103
