Put some Mo' Meat on those scrawny
bones of yours this Sunday, November 30th by adding another 28 miles to the
Aids ride.

World Aids Ride (WAR) is a 28 mile mosey ride around Los Angeles.
No speed, no sweat, but an important ride to make an appearance and to support
AIDS awareness. The ride will be lead, parade style by a red convertible. PLEASE
WEAR RED if possible.

But lets follow up this baby of a ride with a bit of a beast...

28+28 ALC 8 training ride

Roll time at approximately 11:00AM following the WAR ride
from Beverly Hills High School and EVERY RIDA is INVITED!

We'll put another 28 miles on as we continue our morning ride by attacking
Mulholland Drive with an approach from one of the most beautiful bike ways in
Los Angeles. You won't have to look out for cars. Squirrels will be your main
obstacle. After powering up the hill through Franklyn Canyon Park with its two
short intense climbs and one extended one you'll find yourself along the ridge
of the Hollywood Hills with views to the ocean on one side, the valley on the
other. But it's not time to rest your legs yet. There's still more climbing
to do.

We turn left and roll up and down for several more miles passing Beverly Glen
and continue pressing forward for another 2 miles and 2 more climbs until we
reach Sepulveda. You'll have been on your saddle for about 60 minutes and now
finally you can kiss those climbs goodbye. It's all downhill from here (pretty
much). We'll bomb down Sepulveda where we'll be entertained by the crazy spinning
legs of our fixed gear team members. Expect speeds up to 38 mph!

Then in Brentwood we'll make our way to San Vicente where we'll regroup at
Peets for some coffee and snide comments at the plastic beauty of West LA people.
Next, down San Vicente to Santa Monica and a loop up Montana to Wilshire Blvd.
and back to Beverly Hills High School. Total distance is approximately 28 miles
and about 1400' elevation gain.

NOTE: WAR ride Pre-meet at Peets Coffee at 258 S.
Beverly Drive for coffee and treats at 7:00AM. From there we'll ride 5 minutes
over to BHHS starting line following behind the official Red Convertible Parade
Vehicle.
