Meet at 8:30 a.m., ride at 9:00 a.m.
Bike Winter Metric Century
Explore the outer regions of our beautiful city with a metric century (about 62 miles). We’ll meet at City College Café, the café next to the Bicycle Kitchen and across from Orange 20, at Melrose & Heliotrope at 8:30 and ride promptly at 9:00. The café will be open early, so if you want coffee, come early. We’ll go up Mulholland to Laurel Canyon and into the Valley, to Hansen Dam, east through the valley, coming back through La Cañada/Flintridge and Glendale, take a spin around Griffith Park, and return where we started. There are some beautiful views of the Hollywood hills, the San Gabriel and Verdugo Mountains, and residential areas. There are also some urban sections, with plenty of places to stop for food and water and bathrooms. Nevertheless, come prepared with water, snacks, a patch kit, an extra tube, a pump, etc. All levels of riders are welcome, but you probably should have done some longer rides before. In the past (Bike Summer and last year’s Bike Winter) riders of similar levels have ridden together, so come with friends. There’s no charge, and I’ll provide detailed route slips and commemorative spoke cards. Unofficially Sponsored by Bike Swarm!
