Ride for Jamie
04.12.08
Saturday
START TIME: 11am
My mom has MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and it has taken a terrible toll on her life. She was diagnosed with it when my brother Vincent was born in '88. Over the course of 19 years she went from riding her bike 20 miles a day to spending most of her time in a wheelchair. If you know my mom you know that she is a wonderful cook and used to have her own baking business. She has always opened our home to anyone who had an empty stomach. All of my friends who know my mom call her "Aunt Jamie" because she is always taking care of everyone. My mom doesn't believe in modern medicine and has been dealing with her MS the "natural" way. A couple years ago she started to go all organic. She then went from veggie to vegan and now raw vegan. This seems to make her feel a bit better but the MS continues to get worse. Recently she heard about a Stem Cell procedure that has been giving people with MS their lives back. This is only done in two places in the world and one happens to be Mexico. The only problem is the cost. A bike ride with friends, food, and some good music seems like a good idea to raise some money for the procedure!
The ride starts in Downtown SD (10th and E in the parking lot across from Pokez) to Bonita where my mom lives. Once we arrive there will be a huge dinner, drinks, and live music. Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
