Abandoned at birth inside the “It’s a Small World� ride at Disneyland, Branded was raised by an underground community of theme park workers who hide in utility tunnels at closing time, emerging in their costumes by night to practice entheogen-enhanced sex magic rituals beneath the Matterhorn. As a teenager, Branded spent years on the run from these workers following a pledge attempt that went sour. He’d refused to murder an innocent woman in a liquor store. Seeking salvation in more than one sense, he became involved a series of cults including the Unification Church and Heaven’s Gate, even attaining the status of Operant Thetan Level 4 in the Church of Scientology before concluding that it’s the world of our direct physical experience where life really takes place.

Branded’s work as an artist would take flight only later, after reaching a crossroads in life involving money, sex, and god. From a basement somewhere in downtown Los Angeles, he set out documenting the world around him using the walls of its own lost alleyways, abandoned buildings, and crumbling overpass trestles for canvases. The images of a pair of evil twins began multiplying in these spaces: a dirty lizard pig, and a quantum-superposed, half-demented rabbit. These entities, constantly modified and re-imaged, have found their way into coverage on countless walls through out the U.S.
