I'm all for not censoring photos... but the photos of people drinking beer or engaging in illicit activity should be censored. I realize that will mean deleting 30% of the gallery... discuss...

You would have to delete most of the foto's Barlame takes.

I guess that also means removing potos of Borfo's same-sex marriages.

I'm against censorship period, but I can see how some of these photos could be used to incriminate not only individuals but entire groups as a whole. It's kinda like a graff head carrying around a camera to document all his work but... hey, to each their own. People must know by now the risks they are running.

I was just thinking about this today. Not that im game for censoring photos ..but people should use a tad more discretion when uploading photos.

just isnt a good look when the media descends on this site after something like the K-Town incident and the Taco Tuesdays incidents... the media will use anything to discredit us mangey bike riders.

Don't bother.
If there is a pic of me with a beer at a stop, I think it's up to ME to decide if the picture gets taken down or not. Plus a pic of me with a beer in front of Pioneer Chicken is purely circumstantial evidence, it could have been photoshopped. I could be recycling. It could be empty. It could be pepsi with in a tecate koozy.
Ultimately people, you need to exercise discretion on what pics to post on a public place, period. And don't tag the images with names, that's fucking the worst.
If you REALLY REALLY HONESTLY NEED to post a pic of _that dude_ smoking a joint, please do them a favor and blur out their faces. Jeeze, seriously people.

I understand the pros and cons of this... and really it's a decision for the MR leadership, BUT realize that censoring photos of people drinking is a very slippery slope. What will be next, smoking? nudity? banning videos that show ridazz running red lights? The media will always find things the use when they are TRYING to discredit something fun that the general public can do for free. My 2 cents is to error on the side of the truth. mostly, lol.

Or why not make it so that you have to become a member before you can see the pictures? There's a lot of websites that employ that strategy. In fact, I'm a part of some sites that help you find music illegally (yeah yeah, say what you will I don't care) but you can't have access to that particular part of the site without gaining membership and sometimes, some websites, not even before actually contributing to the site and its members.

+1 for better discretion from uploaders
Would they want their mom to see it? (Because your mom is stalking you on the internet now; you do realize that, right?)
I'd also add a call for discretion of behavior amongst riders, but that seems like a lost cause.

But, you know, if that is what happens on rides, that is what is going to be in the pictures. It's as simple as that. We live in an over-documented age.

That is what they call Facebook. I support an open forum with open pictures. At then end of the day who cares. Why hide what you are?
Also I overheard at BFF one fast bike hipster to another:
H1: Did you hear about the race today......
H2: No I wish I did.....
H1: well you just need to be friends with the right people on Facebook because that is where all the good stuff is posted. No one goes to Midnight Ridazz anymore.
Problem solved!

personally, i'd like a retrospective slide show of all the pictures barleye has taken of me while drinking a beer. i try to take a sip in at least one picture on every ride we're on.

I try to make my photos reflect what I consider to be the positive aspects of MR - if I've shot anything that makes someone look bad, I won't post it.
So "no" to censorship, but "yes" to intelligence and discretion on the part of uploaders. The photographs that are on this site reflect (at least to a degree) certain aspects of what happens on the rides - if you don't like that reality, change the behavior.

I suggest we cut down on the crappy, repetitive photos. Why do some feel the need to post every shot they took on a ride? A little self editing goes a long way.
Hey, when did Foldie come back? And where has he been?

I think you might as well take down anything that bothers you or you think could harm MR. There wouldn't even have a site or gallery if it weren't for you. I pretty much never post my photos up here (so take the following with a grain of salt) but lately I have been making a conscious effort not to photograph people doing illegal or stupid stuff. It's hard sometimes, and maybe that says something about culture in general. Some creative focus, composition and cropping also helps if you really have to get that shot.. The party photos just aren't interesting to me anymore (unless they are epic). They are all pretty much the same picture. I have some crazy stuff, but it's all on film, carefully stored. love shooting film on rides because I hope I can look back on them in 25 or 50 years. I know it will be good memories.
