I think it just the larger culture, the age a demographics of people who are putting on rides and riding them.
All we can do is set a good example is de-emphasizing drinking/ drugs as an important element in rides and at the very least, using some discretion when throwing a party ride.
I think its a bit silly to advertise to people to bring drugs and alcohol.
People usually figure that out for themselves.
On the other hand, I am less inclined to go on a ride that emphasizes these things, so maybe its a good thing. If there is too much jackassery in the ride listing, I'm definitely skipping out.

My personal experience is starting on party rides... which made me love riding my bike... which made me want to ride faster... which made me party less. (By party I mean drink)
It's maybe an evolution? I hit bottom on the Star Wars ride. Passed out drunk, woke up to Chewbacca fixing my friend's bike, then the struggle to get home in a small group with my wasted ass. Felt like a huge douche and cut back. Now it's all about the air and city at night. And whatever top speed we hit! (my GPS said we hit 48mph on the last ride... that shit is so broken, but it made for a nice moment where we all went, "Whoa, is that even possible?")
All in all... I like that. BRING THE FUN. Whatever that may be.

Keep that shit on the DL people! What's wrong with you. Reminds me of those little kids on a R.I.D.E. that I won't mention, that I'll never forget running around screaming, "I'm on SHROOOMS! Woooh!"
Idiots, that alone is reasonable suspicion enough to have everyone around you detained and searched. I'm sure some of you narcs can confirm this?

Well keeping your shit on the DL would require people to stop taking pictures of themselves doing said nefarious behavior and posting them all over the god damn internet.

Oh come now, the creator of the ride should have the FREEDOM to say whatever he wants!
Them being honest is AWESOME because then I know what the ride is really about!
If they mention that they are going to be a slow party ride with liquor stops and that everyone should bring their booze or weed, then GREAT!
If they mention that they are going to be riding super fast with no stops and everybody should be serious-business, then GREAT!
Every single ride has a different feel to them and them being honest makes it easier for me to decide what ride I want to go on.

Well, the bike "scene" (ahem..) for what it is has changed from proactive bike people to party people in the last few years. I feel guilty not going on more group rides anymore but I'm just not into standing in a parking lot for an hour having 15 year old kids try and get me to buy them beer. Does this make me old?

I started riding on MR 4 years ago. There are more medium to fast paced rides that lean on the more serious side than there used to be. The MR crowd seems to have grown up out of the party-scene more than you probably realize. You're not the only one getting older, we all are. And as mentioned above: It's summer! People wanna have a good time!
