I got pulled over for failing to stop on a red for a right hand turn (clear intersection), no lights or reflector (legitimately my fault, but reflector really???), and not staying to the right side of the lane immediately before turning left.
after we went throught the whole speel about not being on drugs, probation, wepons, the officer was explaining to me the not on the right hand side of the road violation and I don't know if he could read my mind as I was mentally quoting the CVC or thinking about how would it be reasonable to turn left from the right side of the road, but I probably allowed my facial expresisons to show that I was looking at him like he was a retarded kid throwing icicles at the sun.
He started stumbling over his words and I knew I was not going to get cited or cuffed; did not need to debate the merits of the stop and was let off on my way, but not before saying, "You know man, I mean officer, you made me lose this race I was in." (me vs GF in car)
He said, "At least you will have a better story."

CVC 21208. (a) Whenever a bicycle lane has been established on a roadway pursuant to Section 21207, any person operating a bicycle upon the roadway at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at that time shall ride within the bicycle lane, except that the person may move out of the lane under any of the following situations: (2) When preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.
I have a copy of 21208 in my bag at all times.
I'm sorry you lost your race. But no lights??? led + battery = legal.

Oh wait, I have 21202 in my bag.

(a) Any person operating a bicycle upon a roadway at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at that time shall ride as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway except under any of the following situations: (2) When preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.
I didn't even know there was a 21208. Damn. I guess I should print that one too...

I signalled for a right turn and someone waived back.
Most people do not know about this one:
V C Section 22350 Basic Speed Law
Basic Speed Law
22350. No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.
