Thread started by OC_sponger88 at 08.11.07 - 9:50 pm

i wanna paint my bike.
its an 84' Peugeot, fixed gear conversion.

should i do it myself, or get it done professionally?

recommendations?

p.s. i just moved to denver and looking for people to ride with.

Having it powder coated is an option, but I think that would be a little more pricey. You'd be amazed what your could do with sandpaper, masking tape and spray paint. Do something cool. Make designs. Be original.

The folks at CyclArt do some amazing work.

Cyclart does amazing work, but really you should save that for when you get, say, a collectible Masi that needs a repaint. Your bike is not a mantle piece, it's the one you ride. Just do a rattle-can job! To echo what the previous poster said, you'd be surprised what you can get if you use a clear coat and primer.

Your paint job should probably not cost more than your bike is worth. Sorry, I'm not being a snob, just trying to put things in perspective.

if you're willing to relinquish the exact idea of how you want your bike painted, there's a guy called 'albino' who does great paint jobs for $50. he can get really creative with it (if you like), and he'll take it apart and put it all back together.
wow, swell.
