if you have the press pass license plate on your car, it means you get get places normal people cant. it has a PP in a triangle on it.

In California, official press badges are given out by the CA press association or something of the sort. It's very hard to get one unless you work for a recognized media outlet. I tried and gave up, even had a letter from Steve Hymon (who was the transpo writer at the Times at the time) and still got rejected.
