L.A. RIVER RIDE 6\10\07
Thread started by Pedal Power at 06.1.07 - 12:29 am

Just signed up for the 45 mile park to playa ride and then late afternoon off to support the S.L.O.U.: The Parade Ride.

Anybody else doing the RIVER RIDE?

Would like to meet up with others at this big event.

Yes, I am really looking forward to this ride, after the dark century tonight!
I am riding from my home in Cypress to the Blue Line at Del Amo to get to the Griffith Park start point. Once I get bach to long beach, I'll cycle the 15 miles back home.
Anyone else interested in joining me?

Hey Bikeman,
Looking forward to making ground 'chuck' out of my ass (HAH!)
The last ride we did was the Acura Marathon Bike Tour -- looking forward to seeing more of the great city and meeting cool new people. I'll be the one wearing the yellow zig-zag shirt, give me a shout if you see Bikeman & I ... "Charlie Brown, whoop-whoop!"

Did anyone else ride in or crash this event? It was super easy to crash, as anyone can follow the riders in griffith park and follow the signs. I rode down with a moustached buddy and ended up riding a century that day.

try the veggie omelette @ Egg Heaven in long beach! yummy!

Yeah, I did only the 15 miler, 'cause I was short on sleep & time that day. Obviously a lot of very occasional riders on that, but I did run into a few people that I knew, including Over the Hill, Colin, and RIDE-Arc Alex.

Got to say hello to Daryl Hannah; when I told her I was "mr rollers from the Midnight Ridazz", she threw her arms around me, told me how great she thought we all were and how much she appreciated our showing support for the South Central Farm on our ride last year.

Like I said in my earlier post, I took the Blue Line up from home (10 miles to the station), met several fellow riders doing the same on the train. We got off the Red Line at Sunset/Vermont and rode 4 miles to the start.
Got several shout-outs thanks to my Bicycle Kitchen t-shirt.
I did the one-way trip to Long Beach and then rode the beach front bike path back home. 64 miles total for the day, most in the company of good cycling peeps. For you folks racking up triple digits, my helmet is off to you!
I did the Dark Century a week ago over the same final 17 miles on the L.A. River bike path. I must say, the path is more enjoyable at night, when you can't see so much of the "street art"!!!

Oh yeah, and I don't feel too bad about doing only the 15 miler, because I did do three other rides over the weekend for a total of about 100 miles, bringing me to almost 1500 for the year so far.
