Niche.LA Video Art presents Deconstruction Zone - New Works by Stephen Hartzler

From December 11th, 2008 – January 30th, 2009, Niche.LA Video Art presents a collection of new works by artist Stephen Hartzler.

Stephen Hartzler graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Anthropology and another in Metals and Jewelry. He credits one of his Metals and Jewelry teachers, a Buddhist named Harlan Butt, with helping him find his direction and balance between metal, nature, and skin.

A native Texan, Stephen prefers being outside and enjoys physical activities like bike riding, rock climbing, snowboarding, and skateboarding.

He has always had a DIY approach to things and for the past few years, he has been focusing on recycled materials.

A midnight bicycle rider, Stephen Hartzler came up with the idea for his street sign cuffs while looking for a unique way to ride more safely. Seeing the eye-catching reflecting power of street signs, he set out carving, cleaning and polishing them into these bold cuffs. Now, with their unique shimmer and colorful shine, they'll catch the eye of onlookers any time of day. Available as red stop sign bracelets and green street sign bracelets. Styles will vary slightly, as each is one of a kind. Handmade in Texas.

He recognizes the strong cultural influences in most of his jewelry, and feels that jewelry can be a direct representation of someone's cultural surroundings. To him, his jewelry can be considered a future artifact.

Sry if this has been discussed somewhere before.
