Bent Fork

i bent the fork on my affinity and am riding it backwards right now. i can't ride with it no hands now but otherwise if i take it easy ( we all know i've been workin on that for months now ) i can get a weekend of riding with it. does bicycle kitchen or anywhere have a fork straightener if theres such a thing ? and how badly does it usually affect the qaulity of the fork ? i'm broke from bike whoring and dont want to order a fork from affinity (i do, but can't.. or shouldnt atleast.) . i figure all forks and pretty much the same even on an affinity.. could i maybe just get a cheap replacement meanwhile ?

 be careful, if it's cracked it could fold at anytime and you will go head over handle bars when you least expect it.

 Amen. Go buy a cheap fork at one of your neighborhood bike collectives (bikerowave/bike oven/bike kitchen) and use that until you can afford the appropriate replacement.

Catastrophic fork failure is best avoided.

 There is a guy named Vic at a place called bicycle workshop on the west side. I think it's within santa monica city limits. If anyone can straighten it, Vic is the guy. He has a jigger and it will probably take at least a day because it has to sit in the rack over night before the tweak sets and could need some adjustment from there. If you are still looking for a solution, go there and ask for him. He's sort of a miracle worker with this sort of thing. If it's cracked, he'll find it and let you know. In which case, you'll certainly need that new fork for safety's sake as roadblock mentioned.
