Help Assembling Bike
Thread started by July at 07.26.08 - 2:43 pm

I completely took my bike apart (yall know her as the pink panther) and I put her back together washed and looked pimp... but I can't seem to put the derailer back on. Can anyone help or point me to an instructional video that clearly shows how to do it?

Ps. i do not have the link removal tool to just take apart my chain so that adds a little to the mix...

Thanks.

Utah Mountain Biking is awesome for nice repair guides, and since road and MTB derailleurs are pretty similar, this should be useful.

Rear Derailleur -

Front Derailleur -

Also note, if you don't have a chain tool, you can unscrew the little cog wheels on the rear derailleur and reinstall the chain that way. It's a pretty ghetto solution, but it only requires a wrench and a screwdriver.

Also check out bikerowave / bike oven / bike kitchen if you need personal help. Good Luck.

thanks for the help. i didn't know if that i took the derailer itself apart i was risking messing up the spring system. so now i need to get a new one. lesson learned. i'm just going to take it off in the meantime and convert my 5 speed roadbike into a 1 speed roadbike. thanks for the help.
