Anybody here use/like Nextel?
Thread started by bentstrider at 06.7.08 - 11:44 pm

I currently use I-mMobile for phone service and was thinking of switching over Sprint/Nextel.
I use a company Nextel at my work right now and I like their choice of phones due to the ruggedness, as opposed to(no offense to gays) the fruity designs offered by the likes of T-Mobile, Verizon, ATT, and whatnot.

I mean, when you're riding down the street between 15 and 30 mph, it's better to have a phone that could withstand a 10-20 story drop, than one that goes to shit when exposed to a little, rain water.

Oh, and I'm also down with the chirp/walkie-talkie thing it has.
Nothing like instant voice-comm, especially when you're keeping in touch with other Ridazz.

The only person I have heard talk of Sprint/Nextel was screaming at a rep so you could say I have a biased opinion. Ashira may or may not still be with them, she was when she was in NYC I believe.

I heard their "off-peak" minutes extended to any number, even those outside of your area code.
I was also quoted that there were free, incoming calls that pertained to the same guidelines.
Aside from the "bulletproof" phones, I was initially attracted by those details right there.

The "chirp thing" (where you at?) is only useful if the people you intend to contact also use Nextel.

I've never used Sprint/Nextel.
I used to use Cingular before they were bought by AT&T. Then I used AT&T. Both had poor reception and flaky network quality (crackly voices, dropped call, etc.)

I switched to Verizon about 3 years ago and have never looked back. Great reception, no more dropped calls, etc. If I'm in an area of questionable reception, only those with Verizon are able to get reception, every else can't get a signal.

Well, with all that said, I'm willing to aim towards anyone that carries a selection of hard-phones.
The flip phones with the paper-thin screens are getting too out of hand.
I guess I'm becoming a little, retro and now prefer the feel of a heavy, scanner-like device.
As I said, anything that could survive the general pounding.

Keep in mind that Verizon is soon to be assimilating Alltel's customers and assets. Meaning, they will be the largest cell carrier in terms of coverage and customer base.

I've been with Verizon since 2003 and have had no issues.

I have Nextel for work and the coverage sucks. I just came home from the desert after cleaning up my problem with the feds and my phone was really frustrating on the 40 and 15. At my poker ride I was the only person that didn't have service in Amboy. Everyone else was picking up towers from I-40 but not me.
