I just built some wheels for a guy for his 1895 Racycle. That's right, 1895! Wooden rims and a FIXED gear hub. That's right fixie-tards, fixed gear is a concept that is over a 100 years old, nothing new, it's so old hat that everyone seemed to forget this point. Enjoy!

Yeah, whatever, let's see if the owner can do a barspin or even bunnyhop seven inches of the ground... and a wheelie... i want to see a wheelie. Cause fixed freestyle is the future... you ain't seen NOTHING like what fixed freestylers do before.

100 years later and their progressive riding will be appreciated.

Really? Then you know nothing! People have been doing wheel sands, bar spins etc before you were born. Look at any old vaudeville performance, all the bike were fixed gear, this shit has been a circus standard for decades. Fixie culture today is a crappy re-tread of the past. Do your homework before you open your mouth and look like an idiot.

After reading what I said ... I sound like a dick .... I really mean you are so cool ... Not to many people can say they built a wheel on a bike from 1895

Has the wheel changed much in the last 100 years? What do you see as the biggest innovations since 1895?

Well, we now use clincher tires but you can stull run sew-ups if you want. Other than that not much we have double wall and tripple wall rims now and we move from the the skip tooth or inch pinch chain to the standard roller chain. The saftey bike that came from the 1890's is basicly the same as bikes today. Gears were added in the 1920's on racing bikes and by the 1930's you could get a two-speed conversion for your balloon tire bike. I'd say what people do with their bikes is changed the most but the basic idea of the bicycle is little changed from a 100 years ago.

love the work rev, could you expand on how you formed the rim and out of what wood... did you heat bend it into shape etc... I love a wooden bike for many reasons and would love to build wooden parts for a bike for myself.

Formed the riiim? Well I look pretty good for a 115 year old guy, I still have all my hair! Nah, the rims are from 1895, they were refinished by the owner. I just built them, laced the spokes etc. However there are pople out there that make wooden bicycle rims right now, you don't need a time machine!
