So, upon further investigation, the only way to ride in is to make the reservation (at no charge, though you do need to make the reservation online with a credit car...and again, at no charge) 48 hours before going. This means I'll have to wait until Thursday to post the ride, first checking to see how many tix are still available (a neat aspect of the site). I know, I know...it sucks that you have to make reservations. But the observatory has been closed since I moved here in 2002, and I'm certain there's a ton of people who are from here who've been waiting to go back. Or not. Whatever.
I'll post the ride the day before El Noche de Los Biciclistas Muertos, with the number of spots available at the time of posting.
Deal?

sounds complicated but do it up. does that mean you can reserve on a group rate or something? seems like you'd need to reserve about 10-20 spots.... is that possible? I have faith in you. After all you are an experienced wildness coordinator.

I've been exchanging emails with Stephen Box of Third Eye Creative. He mentions that the Observatory opens on Nov. 3 but that preview nights until then are available. He's pretty excited about their success in getting bikes allowed to ride up to the Observatory instead of just the shuttle.
I'll let you know what happens. I'm going to encourage him to join this topic here. I also suggested that Oct 20th or the 21st might be good nites for a Midnight Ridazz hosted ride to celebrate the re-opening of the Observatory.

Apparently the pre-opening previews are for a select few.
Its always possible to ride up there and not go into the Observatory, assumming there aren't any locked gates on the way up, I'll have to pre-ride this thing after the "official" opening and things settle down and see whats up.
The Observatory probably wouldn't be open late enough to accomodate a normal Ridazz ride arrival time anyway.
