is 22-23lbs heavy for a road bike?

it's a bike from about a decade ago in great conditon. just wanted to know if that is heavy.it's got a lot of gears, like 23 or so. i do realize that this is a very subjective question. but well, would it be hard to match the pace of your normal single/fixed gear riders? i am a hard pedaler...

23 is fine. that's actually pretty good for lightweight steel

i heard a joke... and even typing, and w/ resources to get it right, watch as I mess it up:
All bikes weigh 30lbs.
If you get a 25lb bike you can use a 5lb lock
and if you get a 15lb bike you'll need a 15lb lock.
the end!
(i think that's a joke? or an anecdote.... id rather use my resources to learn about the differences between jokes and anecdotes.... the end.)

a modern racing bike can be made to be around 13 pounds with 22 gears...
but it'd cost you a ton of money...
if you're on mostly flats...the single/fix may have some takeoff speed advantage, but if you're on the same gear, you'll keep up...and the extra weight will help you go down a hill quicker...and if you're on a long steep hill, your gears will help you go up easier...

Your bike could be made of air, but if you can't ride, then it doesn't matter.
Case in point: Smoking a couple of fixies on my mountain bike. They were obviously accessory bikes. My bike is my life.
