Anybody ever hear this quote before?
I've been told this many times by people whenever I discuss different places to live.

I personally believe it's bogus and location has every one bit to do with quality of life and train-of-thought.

reply

Well it depends on what you want to get out of a location. People don't move from Hollywood to Iowa to become an actor. When an individual does make a move, not only would one bring physical "stuff", they bring more important things like personal values, life experiences and spiritual beliefs.

I think the quote is pained on the front of the Echo Park Time Travel Mart. I've never heard it before.

It dates back to my parents' generation, at least. It's just a little philosophical thing: you're the same schmuck wherever you go. That's all. Relax, guise.

Both fine answers above.

In addition, it is used a time or two in "The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai".

Well, as I've mentioned before, I never really put much thought into leaving this town until I started driving rigs.
I don't know if it's the air up here, or the general fact that I see more people on two-wheels elsewhere, I just tend to get more of a positive vibe whenever I leave the area, if only even for a day.

Another strange thing about these conversations is that all those that try to talk me out of it are people that have only been living up here for 5-8 years or less.

At the same time, I tell all the youngsters who were moved up here with bargain-hunting parents to graduate high school, and then find some way to keep yourself from returning to the dustbowl.
Drive a truck, go to school, join the Army, inciteful shit like that.

Cool thing is, most of them agree with me.

Similar quote:

Bloom where you're planted...

Someone told me once to choose where you want to live and let the rest fall into place

sometimes life gets in the way

I'm pretty sure Ben Folds sings that line... but I can't think of which song it is...

Borfo and the Dongs, he just can't seem to get enough of them, like that one song.

Anywho, getting back on topic, I'm not sad or trying to sound depressed in any way, just biding my time before things begin to turn upward and I could finally blow the coop for once.
I just have this sinking feeling that I'll be doing much better employment and academic-wise once I'm finally able to leave this town.

Since I've been here, college has been up and down like a EKG monitor, while work-hours tended to have dipped and risen depending on the way things were going.

Point being, happiness is just right beyond the clusters of mountains in any direction of this place.

Good thing I'm not city-council here, I'd be handing out demolition contracts and condemnation notices left and right.

If leaving is going to bring you happiness, why don't you do it? You're still young, and you have time for anything in the world. Just go for it. Be inspired!

Money's the key right now, I essentially just want to kind of slip away from here without many knowing.

As cool as being a bum sounds to everyone, that's not my style.
That and the closest thing I've done to living on my own, thus far was that other thing I was doing not, too long ago.
